Looks great...meaning I like the fact that the scrub radius will be perfect from what I can see.

Are these repro pieces, or are they only available as used parts?

  3. all OEM except the beam its a new supper bell type that has no stamping

  6. Looks great! I see you have the deeper plates as do I. What mods did you have to make to get them to work?

I've only ever had 2 sets of Lincoln breaks,.. and that was a very long time ago,.... but is that wheel cylinder on the wrong side, or am I hallucinating ?

I don't think that brake setup is going to fly. What did you use for parts? They don't look like Lincoln spindles and Deep dish Lincolns usually require a spacer to move the backing plate off the Ford spindle back and get the correct relationship to the drum and hub position. Since you don't have a hub on your drum everything looks correct but when you put the hub on it will move the drum outward on the spindle and expose the brake surface.
Yes, the wheel cylinder is on the wrong side , lines point rearward.

  9. some grinding on the top of the spindles and the top of the king pin

  10. yea i need to swap the plates to the other side I noteiced the too after i posted the pics how embarrasing

In your 1st picture the passenger side frame horn appears to be lower than the driver's side. Could be the camera angle, put a level across the top of the front crossmember and compare it to the front spreader bar.

  12. the hole frame is on jackstands. Honestly its one of the straightes frmes i ever seen and the numbers are clear i just redgistered it,,

the chassis looks great, i believe you have the more common `42-`48 lincoln backing plates. the `39 &`40 are identified by the three "rivets" that are used to locate the demountable water shields and also the `39 & `40 backing plates have a 1 3/4" deep offset. hope this helps. couple of pics included.

I don't understand why you are using a Super Bell cast iron axle, when you are using so many other original Ford parts on this car. I mean, why take a chance on a car with so many original parts (which I think is very cool, very hard to collect). Why not use an original Ford forged steel axle???

sell the cast iron axle to the guy with the fiberglass car, no harm done.

Do you know that's a cast iron axle? Or is it ductile steel? or what?

ductile steel - cast iron : all the same thing. No manufacturer of axles wants to use the words "cast iron"...so they call it ductile steel....but when they break (and they do) they look like cast iron. Many threads have been posted about these axles in comparison to original Henry Ford axles.
