Mark, the Pontiac is still available.I think the reserve was 20k.(which seemed a little high.) But the family is taking offers.pm me and I can give you contact info for the auctioneer, maybe he can hook you up with them. Tim

You did all right. (And you saved over eighty grand.) That Stewart Warner "Ensign" dash cluster looks cherry, and the Prestone thermometer is a nice piece that will add a lot of character to wherever it ends up.

What a great story. It looks like the new owner's the right guy to own it, deserves it and will be a good steward..........just happy someone like me didn't buy it, would have made a great highboy, chopped windshield, upgrade to a 59AB, '39 trans, quicky cause I know where to steal one,..boy could I ruin that car.

I love deuce roadsters, so bear with me...but...

I think it's pretty unnattractive as is...and I'm kind of suprised it brought it much as it did. Sure with a few changes it would be killer, but that's a lot of money for a "parade car."

Guess that's why I'm a hot rodder, and not a restorer.

As a comparision, that bitchin' black roadster that Rudy Rodriguez built and is now owned by Billy Gibbons reportedly sold for around 85k a couple of years ago. And I'd much rather own it even though it had a Brookville body. Different strokes I guess.

At any rate, auction prices like this will continue to push the cost of original deuce roadsters out of the reach of the working man. No wonder Brookville can't keep up with the demand for their roadster bodies.

That's the Boyce Asquith's roadster, described on http://www.roadsters.com/deuce/

Getting back to the red restored roadster, the buyer got what he wanted. The car that Rudy built is art and it's tasty, and Billy got a deal on it. But this one should more than hold its value, and it's certainly a great starting point for going the finned aluminum heads and '39 trans with Zephyr gears route.

If life was fair, everyone who wanted a real Deuce more than any other car would be able to have one; and every real Deuce would be owned by somebody who wouldn't fuck it up.

The guy is happy, and I'm happy for him.

    all too high, $24,000

  27. Damn, I'm good....lol. Really that was kinda fun to watch unfold. That was a nice car and I new the price would be up there. In a more exposed auction that would have probable been a $100,000 plus car with the crazy prices of dueces now a days. Lets play again...lol.

I love Deuce Roadsters also ...
That roadster went to the right guy.
He wanted it for what IT IS ... not for what it could be.

My roadster has been a hot rod since the 40's and I would not have it any other way but not all Deuce roadsters have to be modified. Parade cars are good ... in certain cases for certain folks.
