I will be installing the windhield frame on my car soon and have a question, does the gl*** just sit in the frame or is it glued in? Is there any "rubber" or material that goes between the gl*** and the frame?

    Thanks for the help

Ford used a rubber/cork/fabric tape stuff. I found it hard to use. I used the black urethane that all gl*** installers use nowadays, and it makes for a more watertight seal. Use a couple small strips of rubber innertube near the corners as you are installing to prevent the gl*** from touching the metal. Then fill the void with the urethane.

You will use two thousand paper towels and a gallon of thinner cleaning up the edge (while it's still wet) and making it look nice, but it will be a clean joint that seals tight.

I still use the fabric channel when installing gl*** in the roadster windshield. In the land of rocks and gravel where I live I have visions of destroying the frame if I had to replace the windshield and it was glued in. The fabric also lets the gl*** float in the frame as it does have some flex.

My gl*** shop has it in stock.

My gl*** shop gave me the last dusty roll they had in stock. Said they don't use it any more.

I can understand using the setting tape instead of urethane for ease of removal. And with a roadster, if you had a slight leak, it wouldn't be the only one.
