Started workin on the rear susupension tues. night, gat back to working on it yesturday and today, i used the stock 32 spring, and i made my own pete and jakes look alike ladder bars for a fraction of the price! heres a couple of pics, ive gotten more done on it also,
so now its a roller, it taking shape, cant wait to set the body on it and see what it looks like, i still have to put it on to set up the steering and brakes, then it will get blown apart, finishe welded, and blasted and primed, and i gotta do that before the 17 of april! so got lots to do!
i also got the rear horns welded back in place, bolted in the spreader bar and gas tank, mounted the rear lever shocks and links, mounted the front shocks(no links yet) and made a shifter cross shaft and made and mounted my split wishbone mounts, so i got tons o shit done today!
heres another, i made the rear end adjustable by drilling more than one hole to bolt the shckle mount to
Jeff, i've been trying to get some measurements of P&J Ladder bars for some time. Can you tell me what the measurements are from clevis to clevis, and the length of them, please? Are the top arms located in the centre of the axle, or above it? What angles are the bars on? It looks like the top bar is angled and the lower one is horizontal to the ground. Thanx Cheers Mark
Very nice Mr. titus. I especially like the added holes to bolt the shackle mount to. One of those little "glad I did it" things. Makes life much easier down the road. Long as you got the measuring stick out, how far apart are your rear axle spring mount brackets? I ended up with 44" with the SoCal rear axle brackets on my 31 on 32 rails roadster, but the 40 spring in use is fairly flat. Would be nice if a taller spring was a bolt-in just in case I do need more height than presently available with reasonably sized height blocks.
stovebolt,, i fabbed them up so they would fit my specific car, so the measurments might not jive as good for what your putting it in, the top bar is very close to center on the axle, both bars are angled down, c-c of the clevisis are 6 inches apart, and the top bar is 38 inches long. C9, if i remember correctly the spring c-c was about 44-1/2 inches( i could been off 1/2 inch), but the 32 spring has that funny arc to it to make clearance at the center for the diff.
Levi, I used a similar design spring hanger device on my Morris. Yeah, I showed this pic before but I like showing off my home made shit
