    Maybe I'm nuts, maybe not.

I have an opportunity to purchase a nice, all steel 32 5W coupe, but that would require selling my nice, all steel 33 5W coupe.

The 32 is painted, has only two patch panels, needs complete running gear, needs crossmember work, has a dropped beam, new Walker radiator, nice hood and grill and has a usuable interior, with all garnish. Good floors. Very nice fenders with used boards. Plus enough new parts to build the car.

My 33 is bare metal, needs only one cowl patch panel and rockers, has Mav rear w/CE springs, perfect crossmembers, dropped beam, new Walker radiator, nice hood and grill, SAR top insert and a ususable interior, with all garnish. Good floors. Also nice fenders, with new Drake boards. Plus enough new and used parts to build the car.

The cars are in virtually equal condition, except for the paint.

Searched and found no direct face to face comparisons, but 32's seem to go in the 20-30K range, even though the 33 seems more rare on the market.

The question is: Will the 32 bring more on a given day, or are they close(+or- $5K), with personal preference (mine) being the deciding factor?

Can't af-Ford to do both:( What do you say? Keep the '33 or buy the '32?

(I know: "You don't pay too much for a '32, you just buy it too soon")

    Yup on the 33.

    It's mo' different.

  4. Wish I had your troubles ;). I'm a model 40 guy myself.

  5. Id keep the 33 if you have the gumption to finish it, but Thats me. Id probably pay more for the right (to me) 33-34 than I would for the 32.

That's a though call...but if it were me, I would stick with the '33.

33 over a 32 five window any day of the week!!! NOW if it were a 32 3 window that might be a different story

Both being 5 windows I've rather have the '32. If they were 3 windows I'd rather have the '33.

Of course, this decision is only driven by my own personal desire and has no bearing on actual values of the cars.

They are both incredibly desirable cars, I think it comes down to personal preference. If you had a 3 window 33 I would say keep it. My personal choice would be the 5 window 32 but I have a soft spot for them. Either way you will have a great car.

They are both great cars, but they differ quite a lot in styling. Seems like you must surely prefer the look of one of them...??
And of course both are seriously expensive if you need original parts...but with styling so different, I would think one would have to be a lot closer to your desires, either the '32 or the late model parts car...oops, maybe I'm prejudiced!
As with anything automotive, the one that rings your bell the loudest is the right choice.

Considering both are 5 window cars......hummm, I'd have to say the 33 would be my choice....and if they were 3 window cars, i'd be really torn. But would probably still stick to the 33. Although 32's are beautiful....... DAMN that is a tough call!!!!!

It's a tough decision, very tough. I really wish that I was having to decide.
I would try to get both. Then I wouldn't have enough money left to finish either one.

  17. Can ya get both?

Seriously, my '32 roadster has been on the road just over a year and man has it been fun! Would like to build a 33-34 three window next. Great cars either way ya go.

But still, I'm always drawn to the 33-34 pointed grill!

Keep the 33. too many 32 plastic cars out there. 33 has way better lines fendered or fenderless.

I've been thinking about it and I can't decide.. Tough call and hard to know which would be worth more at time of sale.. Good luck....

This is like a blond versus redhead call. Your heart will tell you. Either way you win.

I am prejudiced due to American Graffitti, but I like the 32 5w better. Go figure since I own a '32. Has anyone ever reproduced '33-'34 5 windows in any quan***y? Certainly they have with '33-34 3 windows

You cannot go on the " All DEUCES RUN " with a 33 ... :D

This would be a difficult decision ... even for a old DEUCE lover such as myself. I really like a 33 Ford. I prefer a 33 over a 34. I believe the 33 has a little more room inside than a 32 and we both know that the 33 has 6 inches more wheelbase than the DEUCE.

It all boils down to which one trips your trigger the most.

    :)

If the '32 was a 3 window, I'd say go for it. Otherwise, build the '33. '32 5 windows are tough to get in and out of.

Now I'm a '32 guy, but....... if I already had a '33 I'd probably keep it. The best solution is to get the wife a job & promise her the '32 when the '33 is done.

I'm sure I'm opening a whole can of worms here, but 32 Fords are too mainstream, too overdone, they've become boring to me, there seems to be too many cookie cutter 32's out there. 33/34s seem to be cl***ier to me, sleeker.

Thanks for all the responses, so far. Keep them coming! Still would like to get some opinions on $$ value, IF I decide to sell the 33.

I must say that I'm surprised that the concensus is for the '33:confused:
I would have figured the "32, from all the hoopla and high prices they bring
(as seen here over the last couple of years). It's amazing that their popularity has people resurrecting some pretty rough stuff.

I'm looking at it from a financial standpoint; apparently the '33 is worth more than I thought, if it is close (or more?) in value.

I like both equally well, and they are very different cars. The 32 is the cl***ic deuce as far as I'm concerned, and the 33 is the new and improved "late model", as the venerable Mr. Lancaster states (LMAO):D

Let's see...Two votes for HAVE BOTH. MMMMM.....maybe I oughta sell the 40 coupe and the A pickup. Then I could run with ALL the  Deuce guys (like Randy);).

    Decisions, decisions...........

IMO If your building a car based on it's value then it isn't the right car for you, unless you're a flipper. I had customer ask me once what his car would be worth when completed, my answwr was " no where near what you'll have in it". He then told me he didn't want to put more in the car then what the going price was for that car. I told him he wouldn't have much of a car.

Unless you have something REALLY special, you'll most likely never make a buck on a custom car.

    My 2 cents

  29. My first car was a '34 5 window. It and I went through some tough times. I was a "pencil-necked" teenager; and, it was a rust bucket, with a clapped out 21 stud engine. Though I lusted for a 5 window deuce, I sold the '34 and acquired a deuce 3 window (a little better condition). But, in those days, nobody wanted three windows (suicide doors were just that - suicide). I waited over forty years for my 5 window deuce (see photo).

Bottom line! Dig deep, and go where the lust tells you to go; and enjoy the ride, it's a short one.

  30. I'm a 33-34 guy.....I'd stick with it and finish it. But it's your choice....is the a paint job good enough that you would never want to repaint the '32?
