My windscreen has always been too low as in it closes against the top of the cowl instead of over the top. It is surposed to be a 2"chopped, same with the posts but either the frame is only 1 1/2" chop or the posts are 2 1/2" chop or the pivot fixing in the frame is 1/2" too high. Can anyone give some measurements based on what I have? Top of frame to bottom corner - 11 3/4" Distance between the Wingnuts centres - 7" Distance from the centre of the top wingnut to top of frame - 1 5/8"
I think stock wingnut centers are 9 1/8", so THAT piece corresponds with 2 pretty well. I have a sketch here showing 1 3/4 for wingnut to top.
Here's a few pics that may help. The windshield is chopped 2" as are the posts - all re-pro stuff. If you're not sure whether you have a 2" chopped windshield or not, measure height at the center and I'll do the same with mine. Fwiw, my windshield bottom sits on the cowl eyebrow like it's supposed to . . . with enough room for the stock style weatherstripping. This last one is a bit out of focus, but it'll give you an idea of wingnut to top of post. Disregard the aluminum piece in the post, it was installed to keep the ****pit/windshield cover from tearing on the sharp post top.
A bit more - my windshield frame sits over the top of the cowl eyebrow, but the weatherstripping sits on the front of the eyebrow. Looking from here, it looks like you have the left side windshield post on the right and vice-versa. Take note of the protrusion location on the re-pro 32 posts on my 31 Model A. These posts are also chopped 2" The protrusion on the bottom goes to the rear to keep the windshield from swinging in due to wind pressure. It's conceivable that if you get some speed on the windshield can swing in at the bottom. Another telling point on the left-right bit is the top of the post where the top goes onto the windsheld frame needs to be almost perfectly vertical. A little bit toward the rear works as far as tilt goes, but not too far.
Went out and took some measurements off the 32. Windshield (WS) height on the gl*** between chrome frame in the center vertically = 7 1/8" (Part of the WS' top bar is covered by the top header. The WS frame proper is 1" so you could add 2" to the 7 1/8" above giving you a 9 1/8" total. WS height at the edge again, between the WS frame and measuring gl*** height only = 9 1/2". I was able to get the tape to hook on the upper top of the WS frame here and came up with 11 1/2" outside to outside of the WS vertically. Between top and bottom wingnuts vertically = 7 1/4". Top of post to center of top wingnut = 2" Bottom of WS frame to cowl surface - not the eyebrow, the cowl proper about 1/2" forward of the eybrow where it blends into the cowl = 3/4".
