Looking for a way to leave my 32 trans and original rear mount and NOT chop up the crossmember and convert the drive shaft to an open style. Yes I know the 42-48 pickup does it BUT I want to leave the 32 transmission and round tranny mount original without cutting the crossmember. I know there must be a combination of parts out there as I once heard rodder`s talking about it. Thanks in advance.

  2. Check with the hot rod works for their conversion for rear axles kit. Fits 28-32. 1932 was a split year on rear ends. Early were really model A. Late in the year they changed it a bit. If you buy their 360 dollar kit talk to them to make sure it fits both. They might even have some idea about converting the trans to open.

Going from memory here, seems to me the later rear bearing retainer, like a 37 and up that use the rubber doughnut to sit on, are farther ahead than the face mount against the K member of the 32. So, you could fab up a bracket that bolts to the K member with a ledge for the mounts to sit on. really, like a piece of angle iron. the rear bearing retainers interchange from 32-48 , so it would all be bolt on

There is not much room front-to-back between the trans case and the crossmember, and the only rear mount which bolts to the case that has open drive is an F-1 from about 48 to 52. I doubt it will fit in front of or through the hole of the stock K member.

I think a place that made some adapters, called something like "We are only 32", had a different trans mount that could fit through the stock hole. But it was a late modern trans, not an early Ford.

I guess I don't quite understand why you would want to keep the '32 trans, but convert it to an open driveshaft?
Regardless of what drivetrain you choose, the '32 trans will be the weakest link in the system, and a stock '32 torquetube and rear end is strong enough...and will probably out-last the trans.

Hotrod33 I am using a 39 trans but did not want to muddy the waters here as both fit the 32 with the correct bearing retainer. I have a chance to purchase an early QC and the open drive line would be nice.
    Some good ideas submitted here...thanks.

So convert the QC to a closed drive and have the perfect suspension. What kind of QC is it? Most can be converted with just a lower shaft change.
