I have a 56 322 nail head with a dynaflow behind it that came out of a rust bucket century. motor runs good.thinking about putting it a 49 ford pick up I have, flat head missing.dont know what to do about driveshaft though.is there a way to put a yoke on the back of the D.F. or what trans bell housing pattern will fit the little nail head? adaptor plate is 600$ too much ! If you're going to get into that much trouble, ditch the Dynaflow. It's a nightmare of a transmission.

I'm not sure on the 322, but a lot of guys swap to the SP/ST400s, but again, I'm not sure if the swap works on the earlier motors.

The ST/SP 400 trans has the later '57-'66 bolt pattern and won't fit the 322 engine. I've heard someone makes an adapter. Good luck, Frank

You can use an adapter for a later Automatic, or a Bellhousing adapter for a manual trans.
