Opinions on an aluminum flywheel vs. stock steel for a 324 olds. Very hard to find a 324 with a manual tranny. Mine is beyond resurfacing. This will be in a model a sedan hiboy. Aluminum I can buy but concerned about it being too light in weight for the rotating assembly. Not racing it.

    Thanks

  2. I have had an aluminum flywheel on my 324" since 1994 ( in my 41' Ford convertible ) and have had no issues with it.

Don`t be concerned with using one, be concerned on who`s you use. Tony @ Ross has all the olds stuff and manufactures parts that work and wont fail.

Thanks, so drivability is not an issue. Never had an aluminum flywheel, thought you need the mass to get er moving for normal driving if there is a NORMAL

An early Olds has a heavy rotating assembly to begin with.....say compared to a 283 sbc or a 302 Ford.
A lite wheel you will enjoy over the 28-30 lb stock iron......and they are safer
