I am taking .010 off the 324 block and .040 off the heads. Will stock pushrods still work?

With non-adjustable rocker arms, I'd doubt it.

    Shim the rocker stands ...

  4. that's a funny topic. my friend and myself talked this one over for about an hour just last night while driving down the interstate. with a difference of .050, add to that after market head gasket thickness compared to that of a stock steel shim gasket. ok, now you maybe only .030 off. from factory clearance, with hydraulic lifters is that really an issue. I have a 303 olds heads were milled before I got it. block probably was also. I had .030 taken off the heads, and .010 off the block. cam was offset ground, to what extent, I haven't a clue. stock pushrods are still used. pattern on valve tip seems to be fine. and it hauls ass. go figure....
