    Hello everyone,

Im in the process of refreshing a 327. I stripped the old paint today and will be doing a deep clean tomorrow including brushing and flushing all oil p***ages etc. I noticed in the crankcase breather cavuty, on the bottom is a slight concave cone with what appears to be about a 1/8” hole in the center. It was full of crud as I’ll try to clean it out. I’m ***uming this is to allow oil vapors to ac***ulate and drain back to the block. Where does this drain to? I can’t see it connecting to the lifter oil galley as the pressure would fill the cavity with oil. Attached are some super ****py pictures, not sure they’re useful. Thanks.

That's the provision for what was the earlier road draft tube but later a PCV connection. It works with the baffle in the lifter galley which seems to be missing in your pictures. Someone on here could probably post a picture or the factory diagram.

The smaller hole in your picture is the oil pressure port (1/8 NPT). There is a threaded hole for the long bolt inside that large hole.

  5. That bottom picture is probably for a later year 327. My 62 Vette 327 has the oil fill tube with a breather cap there. It also does have the baffle as shown.

I think 62 was the last year of the road draft tube...and California did away with a year or two earlier.

If memory serves me right it will be a 1/4 inch threaded hole.

I have the baffle, it’s just been removed. At the very bottom of the port is a small hole which is what I was referring to. Thanks

I think the oil sensor threads in the small hole.

The oil pressure sensor/gauge line screws into the 1/8" pipe thread hole that's next to the big road draft tube hole. Yes, there's a 1/4-20 threaded hole in the bottom of the big hole, for the retaining bolt.

    Is it a 1/2 20 or a 1/4 20? Seems to big at 1/2".

Another way to do it, no, not a road draft tube, that's for antiques.
