I am trying to straighten out a mess caused by a backyard mechanic. He put a late model SBC oil pan on an early block ('64) with the original timing cover and THIN one-piece felpro gasket. Naturally oil, EVERWHERE. I need help locating an early oil pan. I tried all the usual outlet but no one either knows what I'm talking about, or doesn't make one. It is the pan that measures 2 1/4" from the base of the block to center of the sealing lip on the front of the pan. Someone surley has one they can part with???? Thanks for helping, Scott

  2. I have one from a 57 283 but not sure when I could ship it

Just put a thick gasket with the pan you've got.
The original mechanic's mistake was using the thin front seal with the '74-85 pan lip.
Rear seal size and timing cover groove are the same across all years of 2-piece rear main seal blocks '55-85. doesn't matter small or large journal..
Front pan lip size and which side for dipstick are the only other changes that effect gasket fit.
Why a different pan when all you need is the correct gasket??
