327SBC or 324OLDS Which is better?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by MATACONCEPTS, Oct 24, 2012.

  1. Yes they are I drive past there at least once every couple of weeks. If you are going to let it set very long it is a good idea to loosen the valves and reset them when you are ready to fire it.

The thing with crates is that they are the true belly ****on small block. I know lots of old "real" hot rodders that have gone to them for cost and ease but they are the scourge of hot rodding and, with no reflexion on you, just the thought of one turns my stomach.

My show car 27 roadster project has a 283 in it, smoothed block, ***y piece, but i have a 303 olds in the corner that is equaly *****in, again ***y piece. It doesnt really matter what you go just pick something and build it, there is always someone faster, louder and shinnyier. And with a rebuild you can make anything as unstreetable as you want(meaning as fast as you want)

Or you can go the best of both worlds and put chevy valve covers on the olds!!!

  3. I think M/T made a set of Hemi Heads for the chevy, I know he made some for about one of everything. maybe someone makes faux hemi heads for it.

drove the '56 olds to work today. Smooth, has power and gets decent mileage. I'm partial to non mainstream brands and tend to shy away from ford and chevy. Lots of BOP & mopar in my house except the shop trucks ('56 F250 & '99 1500)

I say go with the olds.

GOOD NEWS!!! Just found a 1955 driveshaft for the 1954 Hydro for $80. That's the only thing needed to complete the Olds package. I'm gonna have to fab some headers though. I might run it with a Q-jet, its all I got.

  7. I'm really surprised 550Coupe hasn't put his 2 cents in on this thread. Artie runs one damn stout Olds.
