I feel yah... with three projects going on at once It’s an exercise for sure. Will stay the course and hopefully get positive results. I already have one chassis almost done for another build. I’m waiting on the body. I love jumping around to freshen my outlook. Sorry it’s giving you ADD! So will go with the PJ one... still doing some metal dressing on the rails so I can tack up the frame on my jig. Then I will tack all the members in place... Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
I would use the Holley carbs if you have them, most find them just as good as the 97s, though a little cheaper. Different power valve set up. The 390 is a good option also, just maybe not as ‘traditional’.
Will my thread be deleted for using one? As I want H.A.M.B. criteria, but modern reliability? Alchemy? The blower engine is so busy that the three stack adds even more clutter? Yes? No? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No, it’s just the efi that no one likes here. Talking about mechanical fuel injection is great, just not electronic fuel injection If you put a @ directly in front of the HAMB user name, I think that it alerts them to your comment, eg @alchemy (then it comes up in red after posting).
Hey, I see this post now, but for some reason the @ doesn't notify me. I don't like electronic gadgets on old cars, and I'm pretty sure an EFI pic would get tossed. Might even get the whole thread locked. But a four-barrel is OK, even if it is ugly on a flathead. I'm not sure why you think a couple Strombergs on a blower is too busy. It's been done for decades, and seems to be about the right amount of carb for a flathead.
The 390 is a good option also, just maybe not as ‘traditional’. Will my thread be deleted for using one? I dunno but I used an Offy 4 barrel intake on my 53 Merc flathead. I used a Rochester on mine. It was 1964 so HAMB legal.
Tin foil... Cutting the con rods Brass drift Finally the rings broke free... Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
I’ve got 99 problems but a piston ain’t one... on to the next one. . Started in the middle... flipped block to visualize the connecting rod Cut 2 at once I love my heat wrench [emoji373] Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Minor tapping again cutting a tight con rod Carefully avoiding block and crank This was the worst for space... I decided to go for the crank the last one was easy breezy Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
After all that hard work the first thing I would do is have the block tested for cracks to make sure you can use it.
These are various batches and levels of grease/rust/time... I would say pulling the items out weekly for a check is prudent... the last set looks like it came out the foundry. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
