Common experience of many - purchased a project with tons of hidden stupidities- now comes the search for solutions. I’ve not the talent nor availability of English wheels that provides the solutions for rear 34 ford wheel wells. Mine are so rotted that it’s very hard to weld patches, pop a spot weld and open up a larger hole, just no integrity to the metal. SAR and others can’t provide and whoever was suppling these rear quarters evidently have had issues with their dies now for almost a year and zero information is available when they’ll start reproducing panels. So what to do? Are there alternatives? IMG_0539.jpeg IMG_0538.jpeg

I do understand that there’re good craftsmen out there that can repair my issues, it’s just that I want to do this, I want to at least try to build this car.

Wheel wells, or (full) quarters? If just the wheel wells you could have the curved pieces made for fitment by you, or get creative. Eg steel trailer fenders might provide a suitable rolled curve? Just looked o ebay. Loads or motorcycle custom fenders, if you can find the correct radius. Cheaper if they didn't weld the 2 halves together!

Back when rebuilding mine there was a great place out of Portland Or. that produced a fantastic body. I do not recall the name of it now. Somebody on here will though I bet. If They're still around they might be able to give you a hand, I hope :):)

That would be Steves Auto Restoration (SAR).

  5. Don Smart is usually the name that comes up for these types of situations. I’ve had no dealings with him myself but have heard good things.
