Tsc has that wire air filter.... Sort of looks like steel wool. Is that what you have pictured there?

  12. worked on the head lights, they are from a willys, and when my dad mounted them they had to be bent to adjust the lights, the buckets did not have the concave mounting bolt mount. so i sandblasted the buckets, cut out the mounting area and welded in some concave washers i had in my "shock, sway bar drawer" and then made a pair of matching washers from some sheet metal. i opened the holes up in the washers i welded to the bucket, then welded 7/16 bolts to the washers i made. i cut the washers square and welded some tabs so they would not spin when they get tightened, the bolts when loose allow the bucket to tilt up or down do to the larger hole in the bucket DSCF3370.JPG DSCF3369.JPG DSCF3380.JPG .

All these years the headlights were hidden under hand knitted covers, now we know why. Bob

  18. thanks Gary, i ended up working back on some house projects, painting he cottage, landscaping and a couple big jobs at work and my dad has been traveling.
i like the covers! i know the little turn signal lights are not period correct but they remind me of the glass jewels that headlight visors had. they are for safety and i think will blend in once the lights are painted. trying to make turn signals work to signal other drivers, BUT not have them show is hard.
my original plan was to replace the lights with original 33 lights but these small, sealed beam lights look late fifties hot rod to me.

  23. sanded and painted.
this is the color, 195? caddy arlington green. i had bought a few samples from different paint brands to compare their formulas for the caddy paint code. this is the color my dad [and mark] thought, was a match to the color my dad originally painted it. the outside shots look "real to life" the inside shot, with the flash shows off the fine metallic. Ted, Here are some shots of period correct headlights with the small bulb type light up top. They came with the lights, not an add on. Bob
