  3. finished the lights tonight. finished making the reflectors and welded a socket to the back of them. added a small machine screw to hold a ground wire. slid a piece of shrink tube around them and hit them with the heat gun. i used "dum-dum as a gasket and assembled them. new s.s. nuts and washers. I for one am glad to see this thread stay alive one of my favorites. p. s. Ted I like red but your accents of black and white are perfect for this car

  10. this is with one of the trim rings bare metal. i have the others painted so they blend. S.S. bezels are available to match the head light rims, but i am not sure i want them to match or disipear

  11. top of fender?
    bolted under head light?

  13. You can always do like those beer hats, with one over each ear. :) Whatever you do, they're bound to look good. Aesthetics versus safety ..... yikes !! Not easy to figure ... obviously. Good luck and always nice work !!

  14. thanks, thats the problem. these lights are more traditional than the led lights i have on there now.
my choices are; led, not traditional but kinda disappear, or traditional lights that look "out of place". i don't mind drilling holes or filling them and repainting.

Top of fender- NO. Under headlight-NO. Low on the inner fender - PERFECT. Backup light - OK.

Your traditional lights certainly don't look out of place. To my eye they look good on the fender just below and centered under the headlights as in your first pic.....but they'll look "best" wherever you decide to put them. Great car.

  17. i like it used as a backup light.
when the light is centered under the headlight, and right below, it is at an off set angle, i could shim the gasket i make and it will be fine. the problem with low on the fender is they become too close together and can not be seen from a side angle.
funny...... they actually look right on top of the fender......but not for a hot rod.

thanks, i think i like them centered with the head light but pushed forward.....kinda reminds me of the original trumpet horn look.

  19. yes. and i think despite the clear glass lens, and with the rims painted it will sort of not stick out. the led is still on the other side and almost disappears. ALL my life i have looked at the front of this car with no lights........makes it hard to decide.

  20. ΔΔΔΔΔ. ... that does look good ... almost horn position on other models. For side flash you can always use your pearly whites. :D Maybe the leds could do their job completely unseen ... alternately blinking under the fender wings ??? Like a one two flash ? Fender light, under fender light ??

I like them centered and tucked under the headlight as in your first picture.
I like the backup light too, but would prefer to see one on each side.

  24. yeah, but what do you guys know?:D
i am the one who has to fill in the holes if it looks weird.

  25. i need to find a second one to put two on the back. i tried two on the back and the problem with that is it looks so "ford like". a single on the other side looks wrong because it is not the same as the fuel filler. makes both sides look wrong.
tomorrow i will get more pictures of the back.

  26. Yes Front! where we said. No Back! Looks like you are trying too much.

Just one backup light but on the other side and higher, balancing with the gas filler cap.

You could just use the lens and bezel ring, if you don want anything sticking out.

Or find either one of these two ...
