  8. Wow! There was some great stuff there. Thanks for the great pix, too! You didn't happen to get any close-up pix of that blue '59 El Camino and/or the red '50s deluxe Chevy PU next to it, did you?

I Think I have a case of I say the right thing, and you here the opposite.

The only thing shameless about is the size of the trophy compare to the car.
And maybe my lust for your car.
    Hence the quotation marks.

And thanks for the wonderful picture! I took the shameless opportunity and saved it for my hard drive, and various others :D

I fell in on a YouTube plug about classic truck rescue, and a most confess that I like the Chevy and love the GMC. I like the pickups and I love the real trucks. Advances Design/New Design over Art Deco, and Art Deco over Task force.
There is hours of entertainment, but your jimmy is so nice.

Thanks to 32 for his pics. I like em

  16. heard a ticking noise. coming from the dash, looked down and the speedometer was flickering and the odometer was stuck, trying to turn the fourth digit over. took it out and tried to free it by running it back wards, then forwards using a drill. will call speedway in the morning......... It's common for odometers to lock up when turning multiple 9's, but not after just 1000 miles. Stewart Warners new stuff is just plain crap.

  18. yeah, the original one was still working after 86 years................the new one looks good:rolleyes:.
i would like to say i am surprised but most stuff i buy new now i expect "something", either they are wrong, boxed wrong, break/or broken, need finishing, fitting etc.............:(

  19. an update, new speedo arrived quickly, S.W. packaging was open, took the speedo out and spun the drive. it spun hard, then easy, hard, etc.... put it in it worked fine with just a little bobbing of the needle, well actually worked that way for 2 tenths of a mile, then stopped. checked the cable, took the gage back out and sent it back to speedway. they sent another. it bobbed a little in the beginning then smoothed out, as of ten minutes ago it is still working.

  22. it has been HOT here the last couple weeks, i even had to stick an air conditioner in the bed room window.
the hot rod, in hot weather runs on the hot side, 200 degrees when moving, i don't have a problem with that but if i hit a light or traffic it creeps up or if i am in the 4000rpm range for a while. if it gets hot it only takes a little movement to bring the temp down so i am guessing the problem can be cured with a fan shroud. so i started to make a mockup but don't know if i like the way it looks.
i started by making a thin cardboard template and then transferred it to a scrap piece of sheet metal. it is tricky to get it to fit in and i am going to have to make it in a couple pieces.
not sure if i like it. i think i need to do some research on a period correct style. anybody have any good examples? DSCF5519.JPG DSCF5520.JPG DSCF5521.JPG

  23. i really like this one by @Cody Walls but he has more room. maybe i could do something like this but shorter. image.jpeg

  24. I made my shroud out of an aluminum cake pan I got from McMaster Carr. Works great when I'm in traffic. Never goes above 200° DSC02317.jpg
