The Engine reminds me of an old ford ad come to life, how cool is that...Go man go!! At least some normalcy is happening again...the accident is replaceable or allowable with a blend...Not a metallurgy engineer...steel is pretty stout in damage/wear where many others fail...but no damage is Always preferred...
Dang!!!! That’s looking great!!!! The three colors works well. It looks well thought out and planned, detailed. You’re doing great work. This is one of my favorite threads. I always get a smile when I see your progress. I have a “family” car like yours too. I totally get the keeping certain old parts of the project like it always was.
Running the e brake cables to see how it will hook up to the stock handle. Loving these bicycle type brake cables! Just feed it where you want mount a bulkhead, trim the cables, t-block, some clevis and all thread. Hope I don’t have to shave the back of the drums, since I trued the hubs, i lost some clearance. Will see when I mount the wheels here in a bit Waiting for my 1.75 rear shoes 2.0 was to wide Apparently Mustangs have 3-4 different width shoes
@33Doll are those narrower shoes going on the front? I had the Hotrod in for a brake inspection and was told there was a lip on the shoe that caused adjustment issues...perhaps there's 2" in there...I have Buick drums up front... You're making great progress there... What year Mustang are the 1.75" shoes for?
Sorry! Total run-on sentence! Have two different things going on! The rear brakes are 10“ x 1 75 mustang My dad gave me 2 inch shoes. So I ordered some 1.75 from CJ pony parts it’s all good now! The front 12 x 2 Lincoln brakes, I need to shave the back of the Buick drums a little bit because they’re rubbing on the backing plate from me turning down the hubs a little bit to true them up. Not a big deal least I have it on wheels now I’ll take some pictures when I get back if I can get it out in the sun.
Good stuff, keep the mojo runnin'. As Jim Bouchard said, "Dang!!!! That’s looking great!!!! The three colors works well. It looks well thought out and planned, detailed. You’re doing great work." Exactly. Can't like the fully assembled and rattle can bombed monochromatic look. Even when I build engines, I don't do that. That might be "correct" for some motors, but it just looks so much better when the components are individually prepped, painted and assembled. When you figure out the triple posting of photos, you will be cookin' with gas...(just kiddin')
...It Does!!...you gotta be pretty darn proud of this...we share that excitement...the Tire and Rim choice is very fitting...
Thanks Guys! It’s actually turning out more bitchin’ than I thought! It’s looking more and more late 60s Munsters style! I love it Batman all the Barris cars!
I do, I should have shared the link...Done!... He and we know it's a he...hee hee, will be reunited with the wind in his face, correct?
This thread makes me smile. I used to see your Aunt Dolly cruising around Vallejo in the 70's. Very cool car. I was driving this 33 Ford pickup.
How about these? We had 4 or 5 cars at the time, mostly all primered, and faded 37, 46, 40, 34, and the 33’ Doll Uncles, and Aunt And Pops
Well I took my drums to work and shave the lip on the back now they clear excellent brakes are all adjusted front and rear ready to go! Planning my next move! Going to finish hooking up the emergency brake so at least I have a handbrake while I get ready to plumb the hydraulic lines.
Little more Done! Went through the Steering Box, cleaned, degrease, new 00 Grease, replaced the seal. I hope it is still in sync? It only would engage one way, and my punch marks seem the same? We will see?? 53-56 f100 box 5.5 Turns if I did it Right. (Yes the shaft is stubbed, and grafted to fit the 33’)
