Thanks! I know yours is flawless. My Motive is a little different, ( home built in the 60’s Look, But Slightly safer and Better) Like if you discovered it in the barn and hadn’t been touched for decades and then you cleaned it up kind of thing. If that makes sense? really what it boils down to is I’m not patient enough!!! Lol! But with this build I have learned a lot more patience than I used to have! Especially with all that metal work!!!
It is going to look awesome once it is done. I am staying tune to see your progress. I can totally relate to learning to have more patience, lol
Got the E-Brake All hooked up And working! I had to shorten and re-weld the stock handle linkage, and Cut , shorten and re-weld the Lokar Linkage. But its all working great! The only problem is….. I’m such a dumb ass! I pulled the cable out of the sheath on the driver side before I cut it. But I forgot to pull the cable out of the other sheath and I cut the cable in half!!! IDIOT! my wife had to stop me hitting myself because I was so mad at myself! I think I bruised my face!! I was able to re-weld the cable together, but I don’t know how long that’ll last but at least it works for now I can just get a new cable later just pull right out of the sheath!
Welp! That’s enough for Today! Its Few more Pics With the Driveshaft out of the way, so you Can see all my Crazy Linkage Setup! I Perfected What My Pops originally Did. Now the E-Brake Is separate from the Equalizer, and Hydraulic Brakes. LOT better! Plumbing is next!!!! you see in the Close up where I welded the Cable. Sure it will Be fine, until I get another Cable! Can’t believe I cut it!!!!
Murphy's never far away...I can relate...Fuck! And a couple more expletives resonating into the ions of air above the garage momentarily been there done that... About beating oneself...Stop!!!! Here's a funny story...I was at work in a confined area...I was loosening a sizable nut pulling the wrench towards myself with sizable torque...it was a very low profile nut in height... Didn't it slip off and POW fist holding wrench right into my face...real good punch...I remember a big bump coming up near instantly...I shook it off but man I climbed out of that pit looking and feeling a bit Sucker punched... Good thing no one saw me they would have pissed themselves laughing... Sorry about the cable 33...pinch yourself...your human... The blue AND the progress looks just dandy...
Got the rear end plumbed! Does anybody know which chamber is for the front brakes on a Chevy master cylinder? Is it the one closest to the mounting face?
One More Fitting at the residual valve, and Rear Brakes are done! ( that’s if the fittings hooked to the right chamber)couple guys said it was a manual brake Drum/Drum that are the same size chambers it doesn’t matter which way….. but the Corvette guys say that the one furthest away from the mount is the front, and the one closest is the rear, which is how it is. So I should be fine????
Almost done Plumbing! Just the cross over to F-Passenger Then take lines off and polish the Ni-Copp. It will look Brassy! anchor it all. Then Bleed the system! EXCITED!
Thanks! I can’t wait to get the body back on! I’m trying to do as much as I can on the chassis with the body off so it’s a lot easier and I don’t have to crawl underneath. Those mounting tabs they look familiar to me I can’t remember what they’re off of maybe like a Mustang or a 60s Ford, my dad had them on there before and I just reused them, I didn’t like the weld on ones that I bought from Speedway. I would’ve had to strip some of the paint off the frame and weld them on which is an a big deal but I’m impatient. LOL!
THE BRAKES ARE DONE! And working Great! None of my Flares leaked!! Just had to tighten the Banjo tee to seat the copper washers! Yaay!!! have a nice E-Brake, Hydraulic dual Rez And Residual Valves! A lot safer than before! Just have to anchor down the lines, and it’s Fuel lines next!! (Kinda of proud of myself!)
Patience Grass hopper… patience… I was sitting in the engine bay to install all the plumbing. Soon as I am done with the fuel lines, I will Temporarily set it in there. Want to see header clearance, and height, and see how low the front will sit. Etc. Soon….very Soon.
Oh, I want the motor in! Especially since it’s just sitting there on the engine stand!!! I have a few things I need to do to it first. One is do that trick that Bonnie 34 dude with drilling and tapping the transmission pin that holds the two pins in place. Because it always leaks right there. Basically he just cut the rod a little short and tapped The hole on each side and put a set screw in there. No more leaks!! Then I need to make an adapter to go to the trans mount to keep it from torsional twist. My pops just had it so tranny snout just sat there in the hole. More as a cradle instead of actually keeping it from twisting. That explains how one of the motor mounts got broken last time. I have a good idea how to keep it from doing that. Going to utilize the rear bolts on the tranny housing and then make a bolt to that plate. Hard to explain but you’ll see!! and I want to take the motor back out before I put the body on because I have to modify the firewall a little bit. But in a week or two put the motor in there and roll it outside and take some pictures for you guys!
I was thinking about that, use a battery and my tester light with an alligator clip and then push the brake? Right?
That will work, or if you have a multimeter, just spin it to ohms and connect the meter across the terminals. Brake off = open, infinite resistance. Brake on = closed, zero resistance. You can see how much pressure closes the switch too. Those had a tendency to leak after a short time, so really lean on the pedal when checking for leaks. Brake lights are important in today's traffic.
Kicking Butt!! Made my own modified sending unit to match the old Modified one my Pops Did. Except I hardlined it, and as much of the lines I could! Put the fuel pump and filter in an easy to get to place an easy to replace short hoses which is marine grade by the way!!! Loving the one sided sticky Body cushion! Need to get some more for the crossmember! Put a connector on the end of the fuel line so I can run a short one to a bulk head on the fire wall once the body is on Permanent, then just a short hose to the carburetor!
Well my speedway shocks work on the rear the front I'm gonna have to use the original small ones for now the bodies too fat on the speedway even if I modified the bracket and everything it's going to hit the The hairpin. I'm just gonna clean up and paint the front ones for now silver and worry about it once the engine and everything is on it. At least the ass end looks good! Oh, and for the guys that were wondering about the clearance for the shocks here’s some pics show you how it worked out!
OMG!!! Exciting times at you place!!! I love this!!! It looks soooooo good. Your hard work is really coming together and looking great!!! I’d never get any sleep tonight, every ten minutes sneaking off into the garage to see it one more time!
