Alot More Done today! Fire wall insulation, heater hooked up, and Plumbed, Early Bronco Manual Heat Shut off valve. With my old cowboy hat band trim bezel! (new I would dig that out of my junk drawer someday! Lets see… Dimmer Switch in, PCV Plumbed! Cowl-vent drain line…All this little stuff takes forever! Few More Little things, and THEN the wiring!! Patience is a virtue…. They say… BULLSHAVIK!!! I Say!!! Yaw!
More done than I thought today! Went to make the mount for the Fuse box, when I went trial fit the fuse box, it accidentally snapped back into the holder, so I left it, and just started separating the bundles, thought to myself, it looks relatively easy…and then started routing them!
Not so much “voodoo” but more like Spaghetti, and Sticky snakes! But slowly routing to all the right places. I also cut the the ugly Ni-Copp line on the firewall, down to the frame rail, squished a coupling farrell on there, and then cut the fitting off in order to have a flare, but didn’t really need it The Braided hose is tight and looks alot better on the firewall, cant see it really. You guys are probably sick of pictures every day! I’ll back off a little bit, I am sure Wiring is boring to alot of people!
You can buy genuine Lucas smoke (in a can) to put back in the wires, I don't know but I am sure it would be compatible with US wiring??
Ah yes, Lucas, the Prince of Darkness. No the Lucas smoke will not work in US wires. It is designed to further confuse folks working on those English cars......only way for the Prince to see the light is to replace all of his stuff with modern USA fittings and connectors! And no, we are not tired of pictures!
Gauge Cluster Assembled! Going to make one harness, and Put a plug on it,feeding it from the left side towards the fuse box, so everything is tucked up and clean and easy to work on, or just unplug and remove the whole Cluster/Bezel!
Instrument Panel Is Done and Working! Should make this Wiring job alot Easier! Check My Tuber-Channel!
Boy! This wiring os about a thrill a minute!!! Got the Fan relay, and Fuse Mounted inside (No where really in the engine bay on these 30’s cars!) Put a battery Hot Junction block down to the battery with a 30 amp Inline Fuse. That way if I want some things direct, I can Just hook up there.
Not much to report lately! Wife is restricting Garage Time for me Due to Honey-Do’s and House and Yard Neglect. Whatta ya gonna do?? You need them Gals too. Heres a few pics… almost done with the inside wiring (Heater motor, and dome light left) I will make it prettier later after I know everything works…soon I can start hooking up the other ends to the components. And Might get somewhere!!!
I think I would pad the brown and purple wires where they meet that bracket and go downwards at a 90 degree angle. Just driving will produce vibration that could result in insulation being chaffed away resulting in a short.
Thanks I am gonna wrap the wires, and pad all the areas where they touch. just wanna make sure everything works first and in case I have to reroute a few things, which I’ve already been doing a bunch of times! so it’s taking forever. I was trying to secure the wiring somehow underneath the cowl without drilling into the body so I use the little tiny holes where the Cowl lace padding screws to. To hide any attachment points from the outside seems to work just need to fine-tune it.
Got bored, waiting for the oil to drain on the the big gear boxes at work. Did a little polishing while I’m waiting for the bucket fill up. A little before and after and working that repair my dad did. This is good as it’s gonna get! not gonna spend $2500 to get the damn thing chromed!! Before And after! Looks a 100 times better. Love that Meguiars Ww cleaner and flitz polish! The polished steel is shinier then the chrome itself! Worked that repair as best I could! Realllllyyy thin metal ! I think it turned out awesome though hard to tell that it’s the same grill
Thanks! Even Got a”Fantastic” from Pops! I’m gonna repaint the edge, flat, black like it was before. I think it looks better even though the hood hides it, but there’s those times where I probably run without the hood, to show off the Flatty!!
Welp! Not Perfect! But nice! It blends in with the rest of the Scars properly! This Sucker has always been a-Drive it Hard-Driver.! It might get a little more pampered with me…. Well…Alot more then when my Pops had it, anyway! (For those of you who don’t know it was his daily driver for 15 to 20 years commuting to Sacramento from Roseville/Granite Bay. rain-sleet-snow…well…rain!)
Waiting for more oil to drain out of gear boxes at work!!! Well… That’s about as good as those lights are gonna get! At least I can put the bad part of the rust towards the grill. I got some of those Scott Drake Ford script headlights to look a little bit more old school. And shrink tube and made the harness is really nice!
Thanks! Do you think I should just leave them alone even though the chrome isn’t that great, at least they’re shiny? My wife says quit worrying about all the small things. Once the car is all together in one piece, know one will notice all that stuff! They are looking at how cool it is!
