Leave them alone. They match the grill.

New chrome on the lights will contrast against the old grill.

The car is coming out awesome

    Thanks!
It’s not like this car is ever going to be out in the rain again…unless I get caught in a quick down-pour from a hot-rod run or something.

(although I wanna do route 66 at some point!)
    bucket list!!

This is still one of my favorite threads.
You are building the car the way we used to
    The family connection is awesome
The car is coming out really nice
Be proud of your heritage and of your work.

    Thanks man!
That means a lot! I also like sharing with you guys! One thing that sucks about now…compared to the old days is nobody goes to each other’s houses anymore! We’re all so busy!
including me! But on the other hand, I’m talking to people all over the world!!!

    I agree with your wife.

If they bug you later they are easy to get off and polish.

Got the Fan All hooked up and wired
The fuel pump, fuel sender, brake, switch, floor dimmer, wires run to where all the lights go. I also modified the kick panel so I should be able to hide the wires pretty good make some kind of cover for the cut out areas. I have two sets of panels, so maybe I can use the heat gun to tweak some pieces.
I think what I’ll do….when I make sure everything works, is cut the zip ties on the harness and try to flatten it into more of a ribbon style then it might fit better behind the panel.
    Engine is next, baby!!!
Did I mention…” THIS WIRING BUSINESS TAKES FOR-EVER”!!!!!

The key falls out of the ignition switch and hangs up when you try to put it in positions! The floor dimmer switch plug came completely out of the body cause it wasn’t crimped properly. Tried to fix it but it that pot metal likes to break.!

So I refurbish the original ones that were in the 33 and tested them. They work fine and I also bought some new old stock parts from the 50s 60s and 70s they were American made new in the box for back up.
The headlight switch is a 57 mercury. It’s got five contacts on it which is what I need for my speedway wiring kit.

So… I “refurbished” the 71 Ford Headlight switch that was in the 33.
It works fine. Pulled each pin out of the plug and hooked them up to proper posts. Checked each post in there positions with my tiny computer fan and battery. So maybe it’ll last another 50 years who knows??? I ordered another switch just in case, although it was from the 57 mercury, but it should work for a backup.
Now I have a working floor switch, ignition switch, and the light switch all original US made stuff!!! 11C2CEA8-986D-44B5-B2F8-80362B1067EE.jpeg E37AE2B5-E833-42EA-80A3-C116B570C713.jpeg EECEB1E7-680F-44D7-8075-C83AE3E63123.jpeg
    No more
“China” Bill switches!!! The wiring harness, at least, seems like a good quality part???
Just hope that looks aren’t deceiving!!

I get these new NOS parts because I’m tired of Chinese stuff…. But now it’s like opening an ancient tomb…and I don’t wanna use them….but… that’s the whole reason I bought them!!!
It’s like opening a time capsule back to when things were good!!! Instead of this sucky, post Covid world!!!
Dang!! I actually feel a little guilty.

I don’t know why I get so emotionally attached to these nostalgia things!
It feels like when I separated the 33 Dolls body from the frame for the first time in its life! Sad, but exciting at the same time…

Got surgery on my foot Monday.
Big toe joint locks up due to arthritis…
So they will shave down the knob, and clean the joint up, radius the edges etc.
Got my right foot done about 12 years ago, and it is still working pretty good so I have some relief. Will be couch, bound for two weeks and then light duty for two weeks at work so….
won’t be touching the 33 for 2-3 weeks.
But I’m getting prepared to put lights on temporarily so I can finish the wiring and make the plugs so when I put the fenders back on…I can plug them back in.

I found a way to re-purposed the old Cowl lights I’m turning them into back up lights I will change the amber to a clear bulb, and I will put them on the side of the frame somewhere under the rear apron.
I got these cool motorcycle turn signals for the front where the fender’s swoop up.
I am making Nerf bars out of 37 Ford bumperettes, front and rear, so there is no bumpers to block them from being hidden underneath. It’ll look cool trust me!!!

Mocking the lights up for wiring, and plugs for quick connections.
Some reason the chopped stands make them lean in, gonna have to modify the buckets, so I can clock the bulbs and rings straight!

    HAHAHA!
    I GOT BUSTED!!!
The wife went to Starbucks and while she was gone, I was supposed to put the T tops on the bronco and I decided to dial in the fan on the 33.

She came home and caught me rowing through the gears on the jackstands revving the motor lol.!!
At least I know the clutch works the driveshaft not rubbing on anything rear end is working, brakes are working!
And the fan holds it at 160*
    It’s 92 here today so that’s a good sign!!
I was supposed to be doing honey-dews, and chores before my surgery tomorrow!!
I guess I just have to stare at it for two weeks. I want to put it on the ground and drive it around the block but just don’t have the time right now.

    Rick….You idiot!!!!
So this whole time I’ve been running on seven cylinders. No wonder why I couldn’t figure out what that little pop was on the driver side. I just thought it was a Flathead thing. Well, listen to her now. !!
Man, I sure wish I knew it was done to this motor because it sounds really healthy. Doesn’t have a bumpy cam, but it has some serious throttle response.

    Hi Y’aawll!
So… those of you Guys who have been following this thread…
(almost 4 Years or so??) …know I get bored when I am sick or had another surgery! I like to go back through my photos on this build and see how far I have gotten. Because in the “Present” day to day, it doesn’t seem like alot has been done. Which I know isn’t true. But Reality hits when you step back and look at the whole picture. It is pretty Freaking cool!!! I used to enjoy making you tube videos when I wasn’t so obsessed with getting this car done.
So here is a pretty cool video I put together while my foot is healing!
Thanks for the HAMB! and you guys… (all over the world by the way! How cool is that?!)….sticking with This-Rambling-Nostalgic-80’s-punker-rocker -Metal Head Weirdo!!
    ~Peace to you all!
