Ok, I really hadnt thought about this car until I read the post about the repo 33-34 3 window bodies but here goes 6 years ago while driving back from college I stopped at an old mans house in a bump in the ffice:smarttags" /><?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<ST1lace w:st="on">road town</ST1lace></st1:City> to look at a car he had for sale. It was a 57 Chevy 4dr wagon for $900. Not really my kind of car but he had about 5 acres with an old tin privacy fence around it and one small garage. He took me through his 5 acre lot showing me all the cars he had, 49-50 Merc 4 doors, two 53 Mercs (one convertible one hard top, $500 for the pair), 57 dodge hard top ($800), 29 Pontiac ($300) with the body spread out and hard to really tell it was a car. Then we went in the garage. There sat a 29 Tudor sedan in excellent shape & behind that a 33 3 window coupe. The sedan was his father in laws (bought it new) and was not for sale. The 3 window his son started on and lost interest. The body was straight & solid in original paint, rear fenders were original fronts were cheap fibergl***. The frame had had a mustang II subframe cobbled onto it, no motor or ******. The interior was barren, but may have been stuffed in a corner somewhere. He wanted 5K for it then, I thought he was nuts. I have been by there a couple times in the last few years and the other cars look like they are still behind the fence, and then all were for sale. I now have a job and a little money and Im going back to see what is still there, what would the 33 be worth in that condition? I realize it would help to have pics but maybe you can use your imagination.
I had an opportunity similar to this about 10 years ago - original '33 3W, very complete, extra hood, grille and front fenders, all steel, unbutchered but with some repairable body damage, $12000 Canadian - couldn't scratch that kinda dough together back then, would kill for a deal like that now. As far as the one you found, today $20,000 to $25,000 would fly out of my wallet for an original as complete as you describe - if the ch***is was complete enough to undo the MII stuff and all the other steel was there (even without the steel front fenders). Hell, I'd trade you straight across for my chopped/channeled '32 Tudor project (running Cleveland/auto/9", 5.5" chop, 4" channel, '32 truck grille, 20 louver hood, all steel, bobbed rear fenders, needs a little love) Steve
the body alone with garnish mouldings, doors, deck lid, windows roll up & down, a dash in it .... if its even kinda nice is over 20,000 allllll day long. --- rolling on a frame with hood, grill, fenders, running boards, inner fenders, etc... its crazy money.
Anybody who'd pay 25grand for a 33 ford in that condition is no ***et to this hobby! just another belly ****on!
Are you there yet? You'll be very lucky if its still there. Pay whatever his current asking price is. I'll bet if it won't be more than two or three times more than the 5K he wanted for it. I paid 16K for my running and driving '34 3W about 5 years ago. I'll probably have a better chance of getting struck by lightning than finding another deal like that in my lifetime!
i would go talk to the man , you know kind of feel him out a little and see if he still has the car and maybe what he might want for the car.. go from there..
Whats worth more an original 32 or 33?? i know of a 32 all steel original with little to no rot complete roller for 3 grand.. seemed like quite a steal to me.. but that kind of cash is a thing that is few and far between this time of year.
The guy I got my roadster from had a dismantled 34 5window roller that he was asking $17,000 for. The Three windows being more valuable I would gladly pay whatever this guy is asking for it. That is if it's still there.
Why is that? If he likes the car, is willing and able to pay top dollar for it, why shouldn't he? The fact is that if he has the dough, he should buy it - that way, there is one less guy I gotta compete with on the cheap cars!
He's probably talking about the all original '32 Tudor for sale on fordbarn.com, $3000 and change for a roller. Good luck on it still being there. No seriously good luck.
