Hi all, Please have a look at the attached photo of the engine number stamped on the "B" engine of my 33 Right Hand Drive Phaeton which has been here in Sri Lanka since new. According to those "in the know" and I'm sure all you guys agree, the engine number should have been on the flywheel housing on a 33 B engine. The pad on my flywheel housing has nothing stamped on it and does not seem to have been ground down to erase a number which was there originally. The stamping on the block which has the number as seen in the photo attached, also does not seem to have been ground down to erase an old number and re stamp this one. However, this number font and the starts before and after do not seem to be of FORD origin do they ?? also the incorrect location. What could have happened here ? ... someone threw out the original engine and fitted this engine ? but even if this engine came from another 33 vehicle, it should have had a number stamped on the flywheel housing. There is no number there and no sign of grinding it off. This can't be a model "A" engine coz it has... Big letter "C" cast on head and 3 bolt water pump, fuel pump on right side of engine, correct down pointing exhaust manifold, correct 33/34 timing cover. So... did someone just use the block from another engine and use all the correct surrounding parts of the original engine ? if so why re stamp the number on the block and what happened to the flywheel housing number ? All very confusing to me but VERY keen to figure it out. Best Regards to all CJ
