I'm going to run a Cadillac 331 somewhere in the neighborhood of 300-320 hp in my 32 Ford Roadster. I'm looking at the options for radiators and I'm perplexed as this is the first Caddy mill I've put in a car. The grill is unchopped. What have you Caddy guys run into with these radiators, or anyone else with a 32 Duece for that matter????? What's the best cooling radiator out there? Are there any good tips for cooling these beasts? Thanks very much to anyone who can point me in the right direction
I've got one in a 48 Ford as well as my roadster. The Cad. engine is a modern overhead design so it shouldn't be any trouble to cool. I just blocked off two outlets in the 48 and used the stock radiator. I had a special 5 row core built for my cut down 32 radiator in my roadster. The Cad. heads have a tendency to crack around the valves but they can be repaired. Both of the heads on my roadster engine have been repaired. I think any good radiator in a full length 32 chell should do the trick.
My experience with '32 Ford radiators is based on building four complete cars. IMO the best radiators are either a stock Ford unit or a Walker. If you can find a good stock core have it rodded out and change the connectors for your engine or call Walker and go by their recommendation. Walkers are expensive but you get what you pay for. I've never had any issues with their products. The FOGGER
Just my opinion ... but a aluminum radiator LOOKS so out of place with a 331 Cadillac ... plus they are way more difficult to repair if you have a problem. I run a Walker in front of my 430 HP Chevrolet ... and it does a great job.
