I've been trying to decide for months now, and still have not came to a best application for the reasoable amount of $$$. It's just a street car but i like to drive it some distances too. It has a 3:31 diff in it now. I'm putting this hemi in a 63 Stude Hawk. the engine is bored .060 over 354 heads 392 vavles and a Isky mild cam ( i don't have the cam specs in front of me and my memory bank is flaky) but it's not a full race cam. I started thinking a BW T5, but then I looked at some Mopar A833's, the car has a BW T10 in it now, I like the T10 trans but unsure of the fit to an adapter. the late Stude T10 has the same bolt pattern as the ford T10 so it might. Back to the A833's I believe they made a 4sp with fourth being o/d is that true? if so how do I tell. is there a data base somewhere on the internet. I have a T5 WC from a 6cyl Camaro, can it be beefed up to take the torque? I think tis might be my last choice of the three. but to add to all the confusion I have heard the the BW T85 with o/d is a very strong and possible choice
You might want to take a look at a Jeep Cherokee/Dodge Dakota Aisin AX15 5 speed for two wheel drive applications. It was used behind the straight 6, V6 and V8 models. It is a bit beefier than the BW T5 and Novak Adapters makes a nice front plate adapter to mate with Chev/GM style bellhousings. I am doing one now to put in my '40 Buick. An unusual application in hot rods but widely used in off road 4x4 versions. Ray
AX15s are great trannys, and it just so happens that Hamber gary (73RR) is the guy to talk to about Mopar adapters.
