Can you put these on a regular stand or will it break the bellhousing?? Also, heard you can use Pontiac rods. Dimensions look similar, but what about piston pin diameter/type and width on the big end?? Thanks!
i dont know, but id be more afraid it would dump into the floor. its pretty heavy as it is let alone to be so unbalanced by hanging it way out there by the extended bellhousing. just my opinion. maybe get one of the heavy engine stands from northern. i wouldnt be afraid to hang a cummins diesel on one of those and they are realitively cheap.
I've got mine on a regular Northern Tool engine stand...the stand itself could use some beefing up since the bare block alone makes it sag, but it held the motor when it was on there complete from pan to carb, it just bounces a lot...hahaha...
There was a thing about cutting down the crank to use 400 Pontiac rod bearings. The bearings were a lot cheaper, but it was mainly of benifit to racers who change bearings a lot.
