Projects 338ci Y-Block Wrapped Up in '30 Model A Tudor

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by mctim64, Feb 2, 2012.

  1. Actually a good friend gave it to me. Said it was vintage and would only let me have it if I used it on the car. I did! :D Seems I've seen re-pops of them before though. Wish I could say Ed gave it to me personally, oh well.

  2. Now that the car is basically finished the fun of filling in all the little details continues. Just got this 311a Mallory dizzy, polished up real nice and should be a nice touch. This Friday I will get the fan and water pump pulley powder coated. Fan black, pulley aluminum. Thought about chroming the pulley but figured it would look better if it matched the crank and gen/alt pulleys. :D

Is that a dual point dizzy or will you remove the guts and run a petronix unit ?

  5. Niether, I will run one set of points to trigger the CDI box that is already firing the car. ;)

Just installed my "Vintage" 311A Mallory Dual Point distributor (I am running only one set of points triggering a CDI box) also have a working "vintage" Stuart Warner "Green Line" tach that has been converted to run without a transmitter by Williamson Instruments, 2018 E Front Ave, Chester, AR 72934 (479) 369-2551 Works Great! :D

  8. Great work by Mike Harrington on my car and Bryan's. Had to share. Taken up on the "Old Ridge Route" built in 1915. The only way to get to LA from the Valley back then. Set aside 12 hours if you wanted to go from Bakersfield to San Fernando.

  14. Cool images, for sure. That car is going to make me think hard about putting a Y in my A. (That sure sounded wrong...)

  15. Interesting. lol:p

  16. Did I mention that the exhaust was finished? 2" pipe out the back with simple chrome tips. I'm happy, so is my wife as it is a bit quieter inside and still has a nice sound outside.

Also had a little striping done to the dash and tank.
