Very cool Tim, keep us posted with this. If it does end up working good, are you considering making one from aluminum?

  2. Yes! ;)

Would do it the first time but steel flanges are ready made and easy. :D

I like the manifold idea Tim, if I lived closer I'd Tig one up for you in aluminum.

I don't have the song in my head and I won't because no way was I gonna click that link :D

And for good reason I can see :)

Tim, I may have this wrong, but here goes. Didn't Chevy make a intake called the Rat Roaster . . . . ? It was for the big block canted valve Chevy. I believe it had two 4 BBL carbs in left rear and right front. May have been the opposite.

Hope to see you guys in Apr at El Mirage.

Looking nice Tim, especially like the grille screen. Was wondering if you were using center motor mounts with the rams horns or front mounts?

  15. It has center mounts right now as we had planned on using "Lakes" headers, when I did the mock up with the Rams Horns I liked the look so much I decided they will stay. So now when the body comes off for paint the mounts will be moved forward so a 2 1/4 pipe can exit there. ;)

I'd love to see your pictures but all I get are red Xs.

  16. Ironically this is my first reply to this thread........................we never talk:rolleyes: Lil bro and I were huge fans of R&S, Todd is 12 years younger than me so he was a wee lad while I was in college and this show was a connection for us.

BTW, Tim, tidying up in the office today/on call. Will get in touch later on the cooler idea.

A is looking great, big props for the gravel guard. Call you later. T

Maybe I'm the only one who doesn't like the grille screen  My tastes run more to something like this, but that's just me, carry on Tim. :)

    Larry.

I'm not talking about the street rod smoothness :) I just like the grille screen :)

  18. :D Tim, you sure build some nice stuff. I have gone over your posts numerous times. Admire guys like you who build from obsolete (Y blocks) and makem run so hard. Thanks for sharing with the rest of us you here in cyberspace.
Wonder how a Y block would go over in one of my Crusty Cruiser Chevy Trucks.
    Happy Saint Patricks Day.

LOVE the headlight bar Tim! I was trying to talk Victoria into doing exactly that on her roadster, but she didn't like the bar in front. Oh well, I'll just admire yours.

Same idea as yours, but no bar across the center. She's a stubborn one!

She makes a good point though. She said that the only the axle should be in front of the grille shell. Okay, can't argue with that.

If we hadn't done the spring-behind axle-out-front thing then the center of the headlight bar would then be proportional.... says she. But, but, but, what about the Doane Spencer roadster?

    Did I mention she's stubborn?

  22. I like a woman with an opinion! Ones that just say "that's fine" or "That's OK" aren't any fun. Kathy is great! Just today she said " I can't wait till you start on the next car, that Flathead looks pretty cool". I got me a keeper! ;)

Man that looks great. I may have to scrounge up a Y-block when I finally get around to my build (currently planning on a 390) also I like the look of that frame. Did you get them to install the body mounts or did you install your own?

I like the head light bar too, it gives the car that old school look without having to put front fenders on to mount to. Subscribed! Great job.

  27. Derrek did the body mounts.

    The chop came out nice.

Did you make the rear wheel wells?

As a very good friend of mine would say, "Y-block, why not?"

  30. Derrek at Boling Bros. did the wheel wells as he did most of the fab work. I get credit for the drivetrain and a few minor parts on the body but I'm more or less just the helper on this car. I'd like to say I did it all myself but Derrek Boling is the brains behind it.
