A little progress on the coupe and sedan. The frames have been boxed and the roof has been cut out of the sedan. It was a really lousy install done a long time ago. It looked like they had used stick (SMAW) on it and didn't really jump around too much. Major amount of distortion. Also the piece that was installed was too flat and didn't have much of a curvature to it. The dropped axle in the sedan came out of a 34 coupe that was replaced with a MII. Just a really nice front end that had been chromed years ago. The dropped axle going in the coupe is the one that was removed from the 40 Ford coupe that was also being replaced with a MII. Both rear ends are Olds. The hemi is going in the sedan which is going to be fenderless while the coupe which is going to be full fendered is getting the Olds Rocket with a 4 spd hydro. I need to get a front spring and shackles for the coupe and was thinking about picking one up from Speedway or Posies. Speedway is about half the price of Posies but I am a little hesitant to use Speedway products. I'll be putting the wheels and tires on the sedan next week so the shop can start mocking up the motor and trans. It has some big**** truck tires on it now just for rollers. Just a couple of pics included. Still a ways to go but once the motor and trans is set in the sedan it's just a matter of putting the parts, windows, dash, glass etc. it all back together. The car was complete and running when it was taken apart and than sold.
The sedan was bought at Reno's Hot August Nights a few years ago. The guy wanted to do a complete rebuild on it. After having the body stripped he decided it had too much work done over the years and wanted to go to a TCI chassis w/Street Beast body. He sold the motor and trans. and than sold the rest to a friend of mine with a shop and kept only the pink slip.
That was a mistake I have seen the work it takes to make a Street Beast body look decent...I think he would have been far better off to stick with the steel body...Unless Street Beast have improved their quality?? I doubt it though...
