Technical 34 dropped axle

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 4211papas34, Jul 14, 2023.

  1. I think Ive seen their ad on Facebook. There was someone claiming to do major restoration work dirt cheap that popped up for awhile. The hourly rate should have been the red flag. If you got your car out of their shop with out full payment your lucky. If its still in there good luck getting it back with out paying them.

I apologize for the thread hijack, but since a couple folks mentioned bad drops, and the O/P might also be dealing with the same shop that dropped his, I thought I'd throw this out there. I think you are both referring to the shop southeast of Ponca City. I have had two axles dropped there, and both of them were off on one side. I think his jig is probably tweaked, as one spindle was pretty much right on, and the other was 2.5º leaning in at the top, on both of the axles. It doesn't sound like much, but it sure looks like ***. I'm still debating as to whether I should send them back to him to get straightened out, or find someone else to fix them.

Also, the first time I had one dropped there, I delivered a pristine axle to him, and he shipped back this. I raised hell and did get my original axle back, but of course it's one of the two that have different camber angles. 20211230_094335.jpg 20211230_095723.jpg Four.jpg Two.jpg One.jpg

    from Nebraska

Had that happen to me many years ago. At the LARS he had a mint 32 axle for sale. We agreed on a price but since I was flying I have to have it shipped to NE. from OK, no big deal. I'd been home about a week and this box showed up with an axle, not the one I'd purchased but one that had deep shackle wear marks and other issues. I chalked it up as a learning experience and moved on. Sent the axle to Greg Haynes/Anson axles and he repaired all the problems and did one of his excellent drops. Lesson learned.
