I know I have seen what appears to be no modifications to the firewall other than the distributor. I put the motor in for a test fit and it appears to be about 1.5" to small. I am running a short pump and have dual pulleys for AC and alternator. Does any one have pictures and or advice. The passenger side valve cover is touching the firewall and still need the 1.5". I am using the chassis engineering engine and trans mounts. Engine mounts are not welded in yet.
Buddy has a 34 coupe with a 5 inch firewall set back and the dizzy is still very close to the firewall
Mine is recessed about 2 inches. I could have gone a little less, but I wanted plenty of room for a mechanical fan and shroud. The best way to do it is to mock up the engine with pulleys, fan and radiatior, that will tell you how much you need to move the firewall back. Please don't tell anybody I put a Chevvie in this little car, they revoke my Pontiac card.... -Abone.
Thanks for the information and pictures. It confirmed that I can still read a tape measure. If looks like I have some more cutting and welding to do.
My buddy Mike's three window. Made the stock Ford recess a bit deeper, uses a Hurst style mount, short water pump, small base distributor, and mechanical fan. Yes he can remove the dizzy if needed. Plan on doing this to my 34. John
