Projects '34 Five Window - One step closer

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by daddy_o's_diner, Apr 11, 2011.

  1. Thought I would post a mini build thread to bring people up to speed on the '34 Ford I picked up last summer. I Just wanted to make a cool jalopy to drive around and have some fun with. The details and a great story of how I came to own the car can be found here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=492092.

Here is the car "as found"

After a little clean up and a change some wheels and tires I had laying around:

Swapped in a reverse-eye spring and trial-fitting the 'Stones:

Out with the 21 stud and in with a '40 Flattie:

After yesturday, She's begining to look like I imagined:

I still have a few little things to finish with the engine swap. Then I have to completely rewire the car.

I hoping to have it on the road in time for billetproof Michigan. I should be able to make it as long as life doesn't get in the way.

I will keep this thread updated as I go along - Stay tuned....

  17. Sorry to all you '34 guys. Pontiac Slim and I got a little carried away about finding some old pics of the deuce coupe I'm doing next. We'll try to behave and keep those in my "Scored a Deuce " thread.

Back to our regularly scheduled programming ...

I've stared at the side pic of your car for a few days, wow it does look good...nice job super clean...

  28. Well IT'S ALIVE!!!!!

I got the flattie swapped in and wired up enought to fire. I was waiting on my Red's Headers to show up before I could run it. The car sounds awesome through the open headers!

I had planned to post some video, but that didn't work out as planned. I had fired the car a number of times in the garage and thought I would roll it outside for some video. I pulled it out of my shop and closed the garage door behind me. I went over the car and double checked a few things before starting it again for the camera. It seems I forgot to double check if it was in gear!!! yup, fire it up from outside the car by jumping the solenoid and backed the damn thing right through the garage door.

    ME = DUMB***!!!

I was actually lucky, it didn't do any real damage to the car that a quick paint touch up can't fix. The pride was damaged much worse than the car. I did manage to total out my garage door though. If the door hadn't have been down it would have made a mess of the car and my shop. Or if the car had been in a forward gear, it would have gone across my lot and into a busy street. That would have been UGLY!!

As it sits now, I have ripped all the wiring out and am installing one of tugmasters Rebel wiring harnesses. Nice stuff! I am changing over all visible underhood wiring over to cloth coated wiring just to keep it looking right.

I'm in INDY on business the rest of this week, so the car is on the back burner until next week.

    billitproof is how far away??????

congrats on getting it fired up. thank goodness the garage door is the worst of it. yikes, that could have been ugly. can't wait to hear it run when you get back.
