Normally I would say flathead, but an Olds with log manifold ,Caddy floorshift and Olds rear would make that car a real kick*** '50's street racer.
I have a 33 3w coupe with a blown sbc. As soon as i finish my 32 complete I am redoing it to put a flathead in it.
If that is a real DZ302, there should be no consideration for anything else. Turn that coupe into a high rev road racer! http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=9683089
Im a little partial to the Olds. since its a later rear end. There were times when I wanted to swap the Olds for a Chevy and then again for the flathead. They all have its pro's and cons. Find the timeline you like and build to it. Missing my '34.
I know it wasn't an option, but my vote is for an early Cadillac ohv. While SBC's are cheap and plentiful, they don't call them belly ****on engines for no reason
I love my flatty, even thou she smokes like a crack *****!!! Planning on a 51 Merc swap this winter!! Flatheads forever!!!! Nice car!
I voted for the Flatty. When it sits down in the engine bay it'll feel and look right at home, then with a good exhaust it will sound great too.
An Old 392 Hemi, A small Hot Block Chevy, 401 Nail Head etc..etc..etc..... BUT, YOU SHOULD NOT ASK US WHAT WE WOULD DO..... YOU NEED TO MAKE IT WHAT YOU WANT IT TO BE...To Hell With Us...... Make yourself happy...Its Your Car... Its Your Money... Its Your Time.
