i think you can jump the posts on the starter but i wouldn't recommend it. why not replace the solenoid if that is the problem?
A standard '34 doesn't have a solenoid as such but a floor mounted foot activated switch. The later Fords ('37 and later) with the firewall mounted battery had a solenoid which had a ****on on it that you could activate by hand . Do you have one of these ? If so just activate the ****on . Should swing it over even if the solenoid windings are burnt out. I have generally shorted the two heavy connections on a solenoid with a heavy screwdriver or similar. However that can cause some serious arcing , showers of sparks and damage to your screwdriver. Not a brilliant idea but in an emergency may be all that you can do.
