Having time to think and more photos to look at I would leave it how it is. With it channeled like that the nose works and you’d have to really put a **** ton of work in to section a 34 grill to fit. And then it looks kinda weird.

Paint the insert bars gloss black and see how it looks. I think separating the bars from the shell will really improve the look and make it look less heavy.

Love that it’s channeled. I’d rock it

I certainly have some work to do and m***aging the grille and even trying to accent it. I dig the way it currently looks but it could certainly be spruced up. Possibly a chop in the winter time if i can find a shop. In the mean time im driving the heck out of it.

I think the proportions look pretty good un chopped but I’ve said that about a lot of cars that got chopped later and looked great then too.

If I get time I’ll play with those photos and see what even just some rattle can tweaking could do

  4. 33/34 with a heavy channel is a commitment to odd things.

You really can’t fit into it chopped it unless you’re the size of a 11 year old kid. They look better chopped.
    The iconic grill doesn’t work
The door sill plates are huge
    You sit on the floor
The rear needs to be wide and tires stick out too far

With the channeling of your coupe I'd thing a '34 shell would need sectioning to actually fit and look good. I'd think the ever popular '32 shell, or the '32 to '34 truck shells would work out better.
Put several miles on the car before deciding to give it a chop.

Meshach, look at it this way. You have a very cool hot rod that is distinctive from the rest of the cookie cutter crowd. A lot of hot rodders but not all want their toy to be either standout or have a bit of chracchar and yours has it. Give the people something different and cool to look at.:)

I don't plan on doing anything long term until the winter so I can enjoy for the next few months but I have a few plans including some that the HAMB will find taboo such as dropping a Ford engine into it LOL I havent decided what yet but I do have a nice a 427 stroker not being used (I know you will all hate me). Until then I can start looking for parts and working on them when I have free time. I found this picture and really dig the front end but I cant figure out quite what it is or the coupe that was posted with a similar truck grill. Screen Shot 2019-08-15 at 2.32.50 PM.png

Forsure, I agree and while I am not trying to build a show car I would like to clean up the lines a bit. It gets alot of looks not sure if its the car or because its 108 outside lol.

It’s European ford. Do a search for threads about cars running a 37 ford pickup grill and most of them end up talking about this one

Thanks I looked into it, I’m going to stick with what I’ve got and just plan on working on it for that look.

    Two different styles ,
Yours could be said to be an east coast style build- a heavy channel and no chop.

To get the look of the black one you’re going to raise the channel 6” in the rear and about 3” in the front then chop it about 5”. That is going to Lower the nose some. Then thin the truck grill and lean it back to get it tickling the gr*** blades.

Enjoy what you’ve got because it’s a lot of work to undo then re do then do the chop. Better to trade or start from scratch
