I'm thinking about putting a LaSalle grille on my newly bought '34 Ford Pick Up to give it a Westergard touch. Have anyone ever seen a '34 Ford with this treatmeant? I have photoshopped a picture of the car, and have problems deciding what to do with the headlights in order to make it look right. Maybe I should have put some '37 ford front fenders on it? (The photoshopped picture shows the car in its current state, with the style of the old owner). I'll give it a 40's westergard/push car style. Flat brown paint, some bad *** logos on the doors, steelies, firestone blackwalls, '53 Buick dashboard and steeringwheel, and hopefully a 30 something packard/lasalle/cadillac/nash grille. I know there is a '35 Ford in Sweden called the Ridler, that also has a LaSalle grille, and he has put 39 chevy truck headlights on it. Looking foreward to see some pics...
Okay not to sound like a restorer.... (never thought I'd say this but) '34 Ford grilles are one of the prettiest ones Ford ever made. LaSalle grilles are awesome, in the right car and def not a truck. Just my $o.o2
I hate to be seen agreeing with Seymour, but hes right. You have a pickup with the Very Pretty p***enger car grille. Thats Very Cool. Dont mess it up! If you dont like your truck, sell it
Yeah, I see what you mean. I have been thinking the same myself, since I can't remember to have seen any trucks given this treatment... It's just that I've made a picture in my head, and up there it looks awesome I'm gonna make this ride my daily driver summer/winter so I wants to keep those fenders and the height..... good to have when there is about 2 metres of snow outside
i like the first picture best, change wheels and be happy? the things you want to do is more suiting to 1935+ cars then 1934 and earlier.. are there any changes on the cars since it was in wheels magazine a couple of years ago?
Superfleye, this is just my opinion but, your '34 is one fine looking ride just the way it sits. I just don't see the reson for wanting to install the LaSalle grille on something that is already close to perfection. The p***enger car grille and front sheet metal on the truck is already making a very cool statement. I can't imagine you see many like that in Norway. You certainly don't here in the USofA. However, it's your car. Do what makes you happy.
Yeah, it's definitively most suitable on the 1935+ cars, that's why I'm not quite sure what to do. Well I'm not quite sure if anything has changed since it appeared in Wheels. I've bought the car from an estate, and I'm waiting for it to be shipped down from the northern parts of Norway by train. All I know is that I have to do something with it... paint/wheels/etc..
Glad you liked it Dago, because the picture is terrible, made it in 4 minutes on photoshop. Will try to make a better picture of it soon
I like it! The '34 grill looks too big and wide. Sink some lights in the fenders and you'd Rule and piss off a few guys all at the same time!
Is that a 33 Dodge cab with 34 sheetmetal and cowl attached? Wheel change and loose the turnsignals in the bumper and your well on your way with a way *****in' machine.
Do you own a LaSalle grille? If you do...........WoW.......they are kinda' hard to find in the states. Chris Nelson Kansas
Uh - that looks like a '34 Ford sedan cut down to a pickup, rather than a pickup with the p***enger front sheetmetal. Maybe look for some '34 Coupes that you like and use them for inspiration.
Hey, I'd try to find some gl*** fenders and a hood to try this consept out on. That way, when ya change your mind and revert to the '34 sheetmetal, ya haven't cut it up. Hell, ya could even use the stock fenders to mold new gl*** fenders and a hood. This way ya have options either way. I like your Westergard style. S****ey Devils C.C.
Well, since the guy that owned the car p***ed away, and I bought it from his wife, I really don't know alot about it. The price was right, so I just called and said that I wanted to buy it. I then paid it, and asked them to ship it down to me on the train..... 3 days left until it will be here But from looking at the pics, it looks like it may have started life as a tudor, or a fourdoor.... I haven't bought the LaSalle grille yet, but a fellow norwegian HAMBER has one that I'm able to buy.
as far as i remember from the wheels magazine some years ago.. the car was an 4 door cut into an pickup, the car is built on an mazda pickup frame along with its mazda engine
Here is an update on the truck. Haven't put a LaSalle grille on it yet The same day as I got the car, we sanded it down, painted it brown and equipped it with some Portugeese bias's But I haven't forgot about the LaSalle grille yet, when I'm tired of this look, I'll go for the LaSalle, sunken headlights, whitewalls, white rolls and pleats etc... turn it into a "Westergard Shoptruck"
Hey, Uoooo! Westergard shop truck......me likey big time! Is she still Mazda powered? S****ey devils C.c.
