A little more armchair racing here, if I may. We all know that American Stamping or Speedway are the place to go for repopped '32 rails but where do you go for original-style '33-'34 rails? Also, when you run one of these cars fenderless, what's the "approved" method for running the headlights. I always liked headlight bars but obviously that's not an option on a Model 40.
Pete & Jakes makes 33-34 frames, so they may be able to provide rails for ya, too. If not, I know that there IS a company that makes 'em...but it slips my mind just WHO they are at the moment...senile old codger that I am!!! Most fenderless 33-34 cars I've seen employ some sort of headlight stand...either aftermarket, adapted, or owner fabricated.
Curbside Hot Rod Parts 202 Progress Dr. Danville Ohio 740 599 6777 They make many different years frames. I've been there and seen the operation in person. One of the most impressive shops I have ever been to. The owners name is Boyd Singer. One of the nicest industry guys I have ever had the pleasure to meet. If you are a young hotrodder he will DEFANITLY take care of you.
I think I heard American Stamping will be stamping out '34 rails too. And the short mounts you make from a cut off Model A headlight bar look great on a '34. Just don't mount them too far back or the "nose" will look too big.
If ya can hang loose for a couple weeks, I am in the process of buying a 34 PU, you can probably get the frame from that, if not free, definately cheep! It needs some work (someone put an IFS and open rear under it). I'll let ya know. Jay
Hmm, that's an intriguing offer. In a couple weeks I'll be at home for break and computerless - but maybe we can work something out. It would give me an excuse to start collecting parts, wouldn't it?
