Well the last time I was around these parts was 7/4/13 so I thought I'd update where the car is and yes I still have it and it is close to a driver. Not finished by any means but close to road worthy. I wanted to give a big thanks and shout out to a real friend, Jim Carmichael. Jim lives behind me, and is the car guys guru of guru's. I do ok with the build up to where you see it in the Avatar, but as for wiring and some other gremlins that showed up, well just say I am dumber than dumb and dumber. Jim has so much knowledge and likes the car so much the is doing it because he is my friend and does love the car. Says his reward will be when it is doing 60 down I-5. No way that kind of special help can ever be repaid. He was the auto shop teacher at the local high school for years, now retired but with cars of his own he is building. A 66 after market Vett, on all 86 Vett chassis and a driver now, and a 31 Chev. sedan with a 401 Buick and all new frame, building it with his grandson. He works full time for freightliner truck also. He has been stopping in since mid summer and doing the wiring on my 34 and straightening me out on many little things along the way. We with our wives have breakfast Saturday mornings here close and discuss where we are and where we will go on the following Tuesday when he stops in after putting in 8 hours at Freightliner. He has helped make major decisions also and just jumped right in and helped with or done the work on countless occasions.
I have thanked him a thousand times for his friendship and work and hope he sees it here also. Again a thousand times over THANK YOU JIM.
Couple of items on the car. I have decided it will be black cheery, deep with the cheery part I hope. The Cowell lights with the turn signals are killer and look just as sharp as I knew they would. Shooting to roll it out of the garage on its own by Christmas, but little issues crop up and we may not make that, but when I get back from my snow birding to Arizona in April it will hit the street out front to be sure.
So not much will be done January to April, but we'll have it ready by Goodguys in July I'm hoping.
It will need upholstery, paint, seats installed, trunk install after a little tiny rust repair and fabrication and installation of the rear rolled rear pan.
Update complete, off to Az. and Barrett-Jackson in January.

34Larry owns a very historic Northwest hot rod. Larry, would be good to see some pics of the rebuild.

34 rear quarter (2).JPG Thanks ss.
Complete history and pics on Kustomrama site or google "Jerry Bergs 34 Ford Coupe".

Wheels made for the car by true spoke, I think back in the day. 55 Chrysler 331 Hemi, 40 over with Delta cam dual AFB's, headers from Hot Head, (Sanderson's) running dual stainless mufflers.
Chopped 100_0746.jpg 4 or 4-1/4 inches. Power windows and doors. B&M 727 torque flite. 285/70 R 15's front,195/50 R 15's rear. Filled roof from 40 ford 2 door. Frame completely boxed, C'd 4" with 4" kicked cross member, C'd section rebuilt and gusseted better than Henry had it stock. 3-1/2 inch recessed firewall. Mid 90's power bucket seats, Upholstery to be rolled/pleated in black leather.
I fabed the headlite stands to match the curve and rear slant of the grill which by the way is original.

Dang!!! Steve, is this the car called "Evergreen Eyefull"? The rounded corners and louver pattern sure look like it. Tim

Hey Model 40-760 interesting question you ask as I thought I knew the whole history of my 34, and I had never known it to called the "Evergreen Eyefull" This much I know. Jerry Berg who had the original work done in the mid 50's named it the "Northern Star", the color was lime fire green. He sold it to Ben Sebastian in the late 60's as I understand the story and Ben rebuilt it a few times and it was purple, and called "Plumb Cherry". Those are the only two names I know of it ever being named. Again, if you Google "Jerry Bergs 1934 Ford" the entire history with pictures is there. This car never stops to amaze me, time and time again.

Tim - don't know about the name, maybe Larry could help out there. This coupe was in magazines back in the day, it is great to see that Larry is keeping this old hot rod going!

Bought a set of Tru Spokes in '75 when they first came out. Never could keep them balanced and a real****** to keep clean. Use them for rollers now. The Nov. '73 R&C aka Chop Top Issue has a picture of the Evergreen Eyefull.

Larry: That's the car I'm talking about, the one Johnboy loaded up for us. The Lincoln hubcaps and all. I have a Hotrod mag with it featured. It gives Jerry's name and that's where I read the name. If I can find it, I'll post some pics from the mag.

Getting them clean can be a problem, so the secret is keeping them clean. I had real wires on my 66 Rivi for years and wiped them down all the time. A pressure washer then air compressor at 120 psi then a quick wipe with a micro cloth when they got real dungy. Don't know yet about the balance as I have only driven the car when I brought it home in 95, about 20 miles in the worst down pour ever. I hope they are ok, that is one feature I will not change. Thanks Primed for the tip on Evergreen Eyefull, I look for it at the next Goodguys.

So thanks timwhit Model 40-760 for the offer on the pictures. I do have the November '58 Hot Rod, Sept '59 Rod & C and the April '59 mags with the Northern Star featured in them. If you have something other than those I'd love to see them.
That is how I got in touch with Jerry back in 95/96 as I went through the 1500 mags of the ones mentioned I had since I was a teen ager and found out that I had bought this car.
As for seeing pic's of the Evergreen Eyefull ; Primed 34 said, The Nov. '73 R&C aka Chop Top Issue has a picture of the Evergreen Eyefull. So when Goodguys rolls around these parts in July I'll hit the old car magazine guy up for that issue. Thanks again. Picture 223.jpg

Don't care if it is old school, but the compliment is sure appreciated, thanks sololobo. So the Jag suspension was put in by Russ Meeks of Portland, back in the early 70's. A well known builder and winner of AMBR. What is old school anyway?

Can you show a pic of the front end to show how the coilovers are mounted on lower A-arm? Thought about doing this in place of the torsion bars.

Thanks for the nice words, I did my best.
Remember though I did not do the suspension work. That was done by Russ Meeks of Oregon, Winner of the America's Most Beautiful Roadster at the Oakland Roadster Show, (now the Grand National Roadster Show), for the second owner of the car, Ben Sebastian. I removed the body from the fame in '96 and discovered a disaster. It had never been boxed, even though it had been run as a B Gas car in the 60's. The idiot that replaced the blown Chrysler Hemi with a puked Ford 302 and 4 speed, cut the******* cross member completely out, and didn't bother replacing it. So I fabricated the center cross member/tranny mount with 2X6x3/16 tubing, C'd the frame about 3-1/2 inches with reconstruction and gusseting and made the boxing plates to match the original frame rails and welded them in a smoothed all the welds.

While not part of the structure per say, I also fabbed the headlight stands. Couldn't find any on the market I liked, so I made my own. Designed to complement that fantastic grill, ( the best ever to come out of Detroit, I matched the cure and the lean back and had them chromed. The rear tail light brackets are custom fit also, chromed, and located so as not to block any view of the rear suspension.
The rust out you see in this pic. was the only cancer in the car. Not bad for a 81 year old, and it has all has been replaced with 8 gage now. The brackets I made so I can swap out with 38 Chev. blue dots also.
    Rear end 2.jpg
I have talked at length with Russ, a great guy. He is listed in the Portland Hall of Fame and you can surly google him and read about his fantastic work. He is right in there with Foose, Coddington, and builders of that caliber on the AMBR web site.
My wife and I had breakfast with my good buddy Jim Carmichael and his wife I have mentioned in this thread. He'll be over Tuesday and finish up with the door solenoids, and wire in the new power window Switches.
Thanks again ss, tell me about your 5 widow.
