34 pickup W/S posts

    Can someone suggest the best way to finish off the W/S post on a 4 1/2 chop. Pictures would be great..........Thanks Jim

    maybe make a think pie cut on the bottom part of the A pillar and bring the overhang back to meet the roof part.

    Weld That up. Then take the skin off the piece you chopped out and lay it over it so it lines up then weld it on and weld the visor right to it so the roof is all 1 piece. Make sure the piece lays in the windshield channel so the windshield stays flat. You need to make the windshield hinge wider so it works proporly.

    Never finnished this cab any pictures of windshield post chops?
     
  5. I'd have to dig for pictures, but it's pretty easy the way I did mine. Drill the rivets and pull the roof off. I cut the pillar as high as possible. Carefully remove the outer skin of the pillar. On most chops I take it off to the cowl.Then cut the rest of the pillar the amount of the chop.Then you can split the inner and move as you need to. It also gives you room to sleeve, or at minimum put in backers for your welds. Then put the skin back on. I took 5&3/4" and the only "step" is in the inside. It's about 1/8" and covered by the trim. This also let me move the skin enough to fit the windshield frame better.

    Did some cutin and fitin. Now for windshield funny chop was 4" windshield frame looks like its going to be 4.75?
