Dementia is the Devils doing to be sure. Damn the Devil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My wife needs my attention more than the computer and that is just the way it has to be. Her daughter comes over quite often which will allow me time to peek in see what is going on but not long enough to get to involved. Everyone stay healthy, keep safe on the roads, keep it under 100 mph, be back when I can.

  4. It's a terrible disease... They disappear before your eyes.

    Best wishes Larry...

  5. It’s a tough thing to deal with, I went through it with my dad, then my father in law.
It’s great that you can help your wife at home…

Wow, I’m sorry to hear that. Got a problem with that myself. My dad had my entire 80’X54’ shop bulldozed with 3 of my cars in it, equipment and tools. All gone!! He owned the property so he thought he had the right. Then he was pissed at me for letting him do it. He forgot I was renting from him. Alzheimer’s sucks! Now I can’t even stand to be near him. I’ll be praying for you.

Sorry to see this and dealt with some aspects of this in the past and hope this problem doesn't visit me again in the years ahead. Please be sure to take care of yourself as well.

Stay strong and find time for yourself Larry. I had a friend lose his wife to this ugly monster and in less than a year after her death, I lost him too. Rest in peace T-Bone! Persevere Larry!

I lost my Maternal grandfather who had been my mentor in many things from the time I was little to Alzheimer’s. At first we thought he was just drinking too much but that wasn't the case.
Lost my dad to cancer and the cancer was a lot easier for me to deal with.
Larry, if you would, please just make a post on here once a day even on someone else's thread if all you say is "nice car" great color or _____. so we know you checked in that day.

There are going to be times when you're tapped out. Spent. Fried.
Find a way to give yourself a break when you can. Nothing wrong with asking for a little help.
    God bless.

Judging by the replies so far, there are a number of folks here who care about you. I just went through three years of watching my wife deteriorate and finally pass. Had I not had the support of the people I talk to regularly on here, I don't know if I could have handled the situation well. Take a minute once in a while and reach out to us. It will be good for you; it will be good for us.

Both my mother and mother-in-law are going through this in aged care. My mum is 92 year old and physically could outrun me but her brain is scrambled, bugger of an insidious disease.
I was with my first wife from age of 17 till she died of cancer at 32. I was her primary carer for the last 12 months. Carrying her to the bathroom and sleeping on a mattress on the floor next to her bed. One day I picked her up to take to the bathroom and her leg snapped at the hip. Rotted through with cancer. She died 3 days later.
The purpose of this sob story is try to take 5 minutes for yourself even if it's to go outside and scream your guts out or pray if that's your thing. The caring will grind you down and it will affect your health and then you're no good to anyone. I'll be thinking of you.

You’re not alone. Been out of the garage for some time now dealing with father in-law so my other can go about life and work. Which isn’t as bad as not being here. So I’m lucky in that fashion I guess.

You are a good man Larry caring for your wife.
That being said, mental health is critical for you as well.
It's ok to take some time, a break for yourself and log onto the HAMB and enjoy some Traditional Cars and Trucks.
Catch back up when you can.
    Take care.

Look into Adult Day Care in your area. You need some time for your own needs, Dr appointment's, Haircuts whatever.
My S-I-L and brother run one. A social worker told a gentleman who was taking care of his wife to try putting her
in a day a week to give himself a break. He fought it for months, finally she was brought in for a day. One day a week
became 5 days a week over a 3 year period as he found she actually enjoyed the visits, and he was able to develop a life.
It is costly but there are some programs to help, and your health needs to be maintained to take care of hers.

  28. Larry, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your wife. I lost my best friend, my Dad to this horrible disease. It’s the worst thing I’ve ever experienced. You are a good man for doing this. Please take some time for yourself and check in with us.

Mr48chev: What a beautiful request, you tug at my heartstrings, and there are a couple of similar requests further on down that have said pretty much the same thing and do the same to my heart. I can only say that I l will try as the demand changes day by day. I do enjoy greatly, this site and the many "pen pals" that I have made through the many years. This is not Goodbye, but just Adios. Just as an aside: Today is the 7th anniversary of losing my #2 Daughter to doctor prescribed Opioids. (Always a very tough day for me), I was able to take Jan with me and our 2 Bichons we love so much, to the gravesite to lay flowers and pray, giving her our unending love, Then to a lunch of Bergers fries and cherry pies at the new Dick's drive in. Jan enjoyed this immensely as she hardly gets out that much anymore. She right now is awaiting my arrival in the kitchen to begin dinner.

    OH!!!
And thank everyone of you for your wishes, thoughts, prayers thoughts of love and wishes, that means ever so much to this beat up old hot/street rodding Boeing Manufacturing Engineer

Edit9:20PM; Jan is my 2nd wife and not the mother of my 2nd daughter, LaRae.
