Nope, some work done but nothing really insterresting plus it is mostly repeating what was done on the left of the car and I'm working on 4 cars at the same time so you get the picture...

Finally I got the time to update this build
I built new inner fenders to match the fenders, I still need to punch louvers in them
    [IMG]
The cowl was modified to fit the Plym fenders and the rocker panel made
    [IMG]
Then I moved to the right rear fender

For those who wonder why using a chunk of the original fucked up fender instead of making everything out of fresh metal, it is because the customer realy wants me to use something from the original car and I also like the idea of somehow keeping it's spirit alive in it's new form (I never understood people who buy a complete car just to use 10% of the body eventhough I like the work done to them).

I also modified the original latch mechanism that are now spring loaded with an original spring to activate the bear claws on the suicide doors
    [IMG]
    The handles are 41 Zephyr
    [IMG]
I fabbed the trunk rain gutter (a real bitch to make) with an evacuation hole
    [IMG]
I redid the trunk inner structure because I really hated the first one I made plus it was too flimsy, now it looks good and is very stiff

Here's for now, hopfully soon on the road...

  3. Love this build! That trunk lid inner structure is unbelievable it looks like it came right out of the press. Thanks for the update. Keep them coming!

  10. Het Chris great to see you at the GNRS in Jan. Looks great. The trunk lid works so nice with the lines and all.I remember doing the roadster and this reminds of the incredible amount of work you`ve done so far.The inner lip for the trunk seal looks really good as well.Keep up the good work....Time-Bomb John

Thanks for everyone, I really need encouragements as some days this build is really getting overwhelming (I work 11 hours a day on it).
Thanks John, sorry for leaving without saying goodby, I have very poor skills when it comes to communicating with people (as you've found out with the way I talked that day).
Anyway are you gonna go to Santa Maria?
I'm trying to get this car done (more like a driver) for the show and I would love to have a better look at Time Bomb.

Much to like on your car, its gonna be a stunner, I love the swept fenders most of all, reminds me of this Delahaye, one of my favorite cars on Earth. Thanks for the update, keep the pics coming.

  14. Chris no problem man, my first time in California and I was also a little overwelmed at the whole scene at the show. It was still great to see you. I`m going to the L.A. Roadster show in June then I`m bringing the car home. Can we hook up there??? Time-Bomb John

fantastic work. i just bought a 68 camaro from the states and i reckon the same guy did the the work on the rear quarters. two four litre cans of body filler and similar bird shit welding.
look forward to seeing the end result of your work.

  23. How did you fabricate the inner trunk structure?

Would make a great Tech Week article. :)

I'm just curious how the hell you built it with the compound curves of the trunk shape.

  24. I'd guess a bead roller Brootal. Car's looking good Chrisp, it's come a long way since I saw it, even though you're busy on other stuff. Still don't like the grille though.

Now I moved to the front, I made a skeleton to hold the hood hinges and latches as well as the grille independently from the radiator (that allowes for tighter gaps) and started to fill the gap between the hood and grille.

A side view with a Packard? ornament.

    Front view with everything finished.

For those of you who saw the car in person the right running board was really crappy (that's what happens when you try to go too fast) so I redid it, I finished the right rear fender and tail light pocket, the almost finished trunk needs a little bit of tweaking, but the general shape and fit are there.

I feel the end is near...

Wow! I was also wondering about updates on this one.

FWIW I really like the grille. Kind of like a 35 Ford - only nicer!

    Flawless work as usual buddy

I personnaly thought the grille would be too massive to fit the 35.
You managed to do it, even whithout narrowing it... damn that car is definately worth every minute you've spent working on it.
The DS can wait !! :D
