Are the holes in the lower trunk gutter for the water to drain out?

The 2 holes in the bottom of the trunk gutter are for the water to drain out through hoses.

I've been helping Curt out with the chop on his model A off and on the past couple of days so my progress has been slow on my car. I have been slowly patching rust on the tailpan.

Sounds like you have gone from the student to the instructor.

I wouldn't go so far to say the instructor. The better word would be the director since we lack direction from the instructor.

Thanks for the kind words its always great to hear from other '35 owners.

Lately I have been working on the frenched license plate. I am doing a swinging door with the gas filler behind it. Here is what I did. I got the swinging door from Jamie in some trades we did. The first 2 pics are before I did anything to it. First I cut the back mount for the gas filler off. Then there was a bead that ended no where so I put a finished end on that. I then sectioned the plate mount 1 inch for the old plate to fit. Next I made the back plate of the frenched box. I then cut a hole for the filler and I plug welded the mounting ring on to it. Next I made a new bracket for the swinging door. I then made and welded the sides of the box to the bottom. I wanted a slight rolled edge on the body around the license plat so I rolled a bead, bent it into a 90, shrunk the edge so it would match the curve of the tail pan and then welded it to the box. I ended up making the corners separate

And here it is taked into the tailpan. The school is having an open house this weekend so I just tacked it in and then I took the body off of the frame to show that off. I then tacked the tailpan onto the body.

It was good to see it in person. Next time in May I hope to see it in a new location.

I got a license plate that is the right size now (in ND a year of manufacture plate must have at least 5 digits). I got the frenched box welded in and I pluged the spare tire holes.

Thanks Tom. I cut the top of the license plate holder off, so I could move the plate up higher. Now I have clearance to open the door.

I fixed all of the cage nuts that were shot. I then made a new floor piece that is part of the tail support. I spot welded that on and then I welded the bottom gutter back on on.

Today I took the cross brace for the floor out. With the rear crossmember flatened out I didnt have any clearance around the U-bolts. I made a recess on the cross brace and got it spot welded back in.
