We are running 6.50 on the rear. In this pic we had 6.00 on the front but they are too big. We have since gone down to a 5.25/5.50 and it looks much better.

We also have a et of 17" wires that we are having modified to fit into a 7" wide 16" rim so we can fit bigger tyres to the rear as needed.

Here is how it is now with 6.0 in front and 7.5 in the rear. The rear wheels are widened 2 inches to the inside so it does make the rear look a little wider than it is.

This has been gone over many times.
Looks are one thing, practicality is another. I wouldnt want to go beyond a 6.50 on a standard 4" 35 wire. Ford also had 4.5" wires along with the K-H that were used on lots of pickups. These used 6.50 but 7.00 wouldnt be a stretch. The 7.50 is a BIG tire.

Here are some International tractor wheels I picked up (also $50 for all 4), I believe these were made by Motor Wheel Company. Pattern is 5 on 4.5", same as decades of Mopar and 49 and later Ford. They are wearing 6.50's and are 4.5" wide. Im hoping to use these on a modified project that is just getting started.

    Here is the difference between a 6.00 and a 7.00 x 16, a 7.50 is another big jump.

How about these on the front? Should really scare the Death Rod crowd. These are 6.50 x 16 tractor tires, says 25 mph max on the sidewalls; wonder how they would be "on the dirt"?

next im gonna ask about where to order em. I've got my goodyears through a place in Ohio... got there number from coker. Is there any hamber that deals in tires?

  15. Tuck, I have an idea on tires, email me at home. We'll see if it something that will work.Might be a deal we can get some HAMBers into.

As for the wires,I dunno man? Your car sounds like you are doing a bunch of 60s car mods???? But the wires point to an earlier time. I think you said this to me a wjhile back..."What is the build plan? the theme?"

i have a theme for ya

29 roadster body w/331 hemi and a 8 pot log manifold, poncho rear, finned drums all the way around, zoomies, metal flake paint, 33 commercial gril w/ 32 headlights...

it will be anything but confused...
if anything it'll be an earlier time feel... but everything in the sixtys spawned off the fiftys...

I have plans for the wires

im going to blast em and surface them...
finish them baby powder smooth and flake them in the new HOK shimmron flake... along with the frame..

everything else is chrome and kandy
    dont worry...

if you start railing me about running wires
ya better go back and look at LUKESTERS pickup [IMG]
    i love that look

    Tuck

ps now whats this deal??? ill email ya

Hey Tuck, I just purchased some 15" BFG bias plys, blackwall 8.20's and 5.90's for my 28 A Sedan, they were a little over $400.00. One of my best friends, Pete, is an****t. mgr. at Discount Tire in Fenton, MI. He can UPS tires anywhere, he is a hot rod tire guru, therefore he takes care of fellow hot rodders. His name is Pete McVannel his work number is (810)629-0495. Give him a call, he will hook you up!

The ex Rocky 33 ran 6.00-16's on the front and 7.00's on the back. I liked the look but it took about a pound of balance weights to balance those old 'Stones.

I've used 7.50 on the rear of my 35, 37, and 39 Ford pickups for 20 years, no problem--but they are TRUCKS. Dont know how that size would look on a car

    I agree with Tdog.

Those wires belong on flathead powered Hot Rods PERIOD. Well maybe Bangers are OK too........Understand?

Anything else just seems wrong. Bolting them on Buick drums doesn't make any sense either.

Confusing eras is like putting a***** on Betty Page. The Greaser Gods will be pissed.***** Page?

If you want spokes you NEED early Skylark Ones. They belong on those drums and would fit in WAAAY cooler on a 60's rod.
Look at the Barris Twister T. When's the last time you saw those Buick wires on a Hot Rod? That would rule.

Even cooler would be to score some of the 62 Pontiac Wide 8 lug? finned drums and have those 8 lug wheels chromed!
    That would be COMPLETELY KILLER.

Save those 35 wires for the 50's (Pre OHV V8) era cars and the Confused Street Rodders and let's do something special with your roadster.

Sorry Bro, but I think you should ditch those wires.

I'm running 700-16s on the rear w/ 600-16s on the front. The 700s are 3.5 inches taller than the 600s. If you need more drop, 550 -16s will give you some more rake. Coker has a website that gives the specs on all the different makes and sizes. There are some size diffences between manufactures.
