guys buddy of mine had a 350 chevy (94 vintage) in his 51 nash. motor started out in a truck and was pulled because it ran hot. my buddy pulled heads and one was cracked so new pair was installed after being checked at machine shop. motor goes in nash with new water pump, thermost, new 2 core radiator with electric fan, shroud. still ran hot so electric water pump added. no foamy oil, checked for hot spots with infa red thermometer and found nothing. anyone have any ideas? motor is out and being swapped for 283. guess i should add it has edlebrock intake and runs stock exhaust manifolds. timing is on as motor purrs but get hot! thanks.
isn't a 2 row a little small? buddy of.mine had a 56 Chevy truck and pulled the 6 out of it and swapped an 350 into it..drove to the bar and popped the hood to show off his skills of the motor swap.., 20 seconds later the neck and cap of his 2 row exploded and almost took us out. I would start there. get a 3 row and burp the engine well good luck Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
im going to side with creep johnny on this. 2 row seems a little skinny to me I have a 4 row in my 41 olds and the engine runs very cool. this is with a very small opening for a grille. also burp the motor it might have air lock.
had many chevelles with 2 row radiators with zero issues, 3 row was considered HD. for towing or AC. truck motor came out of had 4 row, tow package ans AC. new motor in truck runs great and no temp issues. he has done all the things normally****ociated with temp issues.
Dumb question, is the correct water pump being used for the belt system? Or possibly has the wrong impeller been installed by the builder on the water pump?
What do you consider "hot"? I used to think my latest SBC was running hot, but discovered that it's a later block and runs a bit warmer than 180 degrees. Mine settles in at 190-200 degrees.
