Dropped a 350/400 in my 51 Chevy 1/2 ton with a Mustang II suspension, question is how tight should I pull the cushion mounts (Ch***is Engineering) to keep movement down. Thanks Zeke

There should be a tube in the mount that controls that. No tighter than basic torque spec will do.

Haven't ever seen a specification for the early Ford motor mounts but haven't ever had any wear or other problem simply by making them hand tight and then running them down untiil you just see a slight deformation in the biscuit, stop, go to the previous castle nut slot and put in and split the cotter pin.

This ***umes the Ch***is Engineering mount is like the early Ford one with a moulded in flat washer atop the upper large biscuit with a metal band clamped around it, a heavy cup washer under the biscuit with a large flanged hole in it, a smaller flanged hole cup washer underneath, then the lower biscuit which sockets in the upper washer thus isolating the mount bolt and allowing movement, a heavy flat washer, and a stepped mount bolt with a large head and large shank which is stepped at the top end to a smaller diameter on the threaded mounting upper stud end, and drilled for a cotter pin.
