Do you have to remove the stock cradle to mount a 350 in a 36 Ford?

I have a poweglide in now and it fits well, but I can get a cheap turbo 350, but do not want to cut out my center X section.

    What are the size differences?

Also is there a big difference in length, and would I have to re do the driveshaft?

I used to have a TH350 in the '40. Pretty sure you have to cut out the stock cradle. I like the Ch***is Engineering setup. A few little mods and you can fit a TR-3550 5 spd.

FWIW, I swapped the aluminum PG in my old '70 C-10 for a '74 TH350 - same length, same rear mount, same driveshaft spline. Don't know if that's universally the case or if I just lucked out.

  3. 40 Tudor is correct -same length /mount spacing-as the powerglide -IF- it is a short tail shaft 350......
