I just got done with greaserama and on my way home my tranny started making a whineing noise. It only does it in third gear, if u put it in neutral it goes away put it in second and it goes away as well. Fluid level is good and i have less then 1000 miles on a rebuild. Has anyone ever experienced the same problem??

You might take it back to where you got it rebuilt.

Could be a few different things, but a bad torque converter is a likely suspect.

First double check that the transmission case to engine block bolts are tight, though

Wow, never ran into that with a 350 or 400. Could be the third gear is not synchronized correctly but that is just a guess. Good luck!

third gear works by engaging the direct and forward clutches, locking the geartrain together, so it's "straight thru". No gears are turning in third.
