Does anyone know if i can run a later model lockup converter trans without hooking up the lockup i can get the trans free and it works good but. what do you think i should do thanks in advance jeff
Depends on what year trans, early ones like early 80's have no external wiring and will work fine. later ones are elect controlled so all you need is a simple switch, rocker or toggle to control lockup, just remember to unlock when slowing down, can be a pain. there are aftermarket controls available also. The earlier ones control lockup with a pressure switch on v/body that look like an oil pressure switch (they are) and can be adjusted for whatever speed you wnt the lockup to happen, just dig the sealing plastic from the end of the switch and adjust by turning allen screw clock-wise to increase lockup point, just be advised if you bottom the screw out it will never lockup and will function as a non-lockub 350, which ain't bad. Good luck.
Thanks for the info, the trans is from an 86 chevy truck and i didn't know if i even needed to hook it up, or how to hook it up.
I have an '86 chevy truck with TH350C with the lockup disconnected. It has been that way for over 2 years, with no problems, and it was daily driven until about 6 months ago. I'm gonna hook it back up one of these days... Slonaker
