hey i need some advise im swaping a 351 w into my 64 ford galaxie the trouble im having is the z bar seems too long the car was a 289 4 speed before the only thing i changed was the engine from a 289 to the 351 i loosend the mount up on the frame to get clerance to hook the z bar up but the only way i could get it on it pushed the engine way to the right and the cross member wouldnt line up it had the trans way to far to the right i took the frame bracket and pivit compleatly off and sat the engine in the car i have the cross member in it now and everything is in line i tryed to put the bracket and pivit back on but it looked like it was goning to put the z bar too close to the inner fender ? has anyone done a 351w swap with a 4 speed and ran into this i thought the bottom of the blocks was the same only the top was wider or am i wrong thanks for the help

I put a 351-W in a 64 custom 2 door sedan about 20 years ago but mine had a six and I think I grinded the Z bar some to get it to fit,I took a 289 out of a friends 64 country sedan and installed a 73 302 and I think I might had to grind on its Z bar too as I think the blocks where the ball screws in sticks out a little farther on the later motors then the 289s but again it was about 10 years ago when we done that swap so my memory is a little foggy.
